Of note, when each province was asked to gauge their interest in the US election Alberta scored the highest with about 70% saying they were very or somewhat interested...

Well... maybe it wasn't a stereotype after all

I take back the insinuation that American's don't understand Canadians....

I'm surprised at first instance with the results of those polls. But I'll also bet that those surveyed weren't thinking much more beyond the war in Iraq -- which is a disaster from the point of view of the average Canadian.

In the crowd I run with, most don't like Bush, but are so afraid of Kerry's (Edwards') economic views that they can overlook the Iraq fiasco.

But those poll numbers really highlight how different we are.

What states are they from? When I was in Lousiana, alot of the people I talked too, didn't really have a clue about Canada. But that is to be expected since they are so far away from the boarder. I wouldn't expect people in Calgary or Edmonton to be fully up to speed on goings on in Lousiana.

I imagine the more northern states would have more understanding of canadian culture and views than other states.

I know where Louisianna is, I know a lot about New Orleans, their pro NFL team, the areas recent natural disaster woes and fears, the Cajun aspect, the bayous (although I'm probably proving ignorant on the spelling of that), the Mardis Gras, the voodoo element and the architecture. That's just from picking it up, I've not been there (would love to). I live far away from them. So although I'm not fully up to speed I'm comfortable I'm not ignorant either.
