35, born at the General Hospital. My sister and I are the ONLY members of our entire family born in Calgary. Everyone else is from ....you guessed it, Saskatchewan. My parents stopped here for a night on their way to Vancouver but then never left. The only complaint you'll hear from both sis and I is being landlocked. We both wish we were near the ocean but neither of us are willing to forgo seeing our favorite teams live, sis is a Stamps fan and I'm a Flames Fan for life.

Born, raised, married, and now raising my family here. 32 years. My wife was born and raised in Edmonton; I 'rescued' her from there just about 5 years ago.
It is one of my goals to move out of Calgary though. I would like to buy a farm, within close proximity to Calgary. Maybe 30-50 minute commute at the most. From the ages of 12 to 26, I spent each and every summer working on my Uncle's farm and I found out that I like living outside of the city more than living in it. But, I like the amenties the city offers such as an NHL team, mega malls, mega plex cimemas, etc, etc.
My extended family of Aunts and Uncles all stem from that same farm, which is about 45 minutes outside of Calgary.

I was born at Foothills and have lived in the same house in Rundle for 21 years. I really love this city and it's my home but I, luckily, have been able to travel quite a bit and I think I've left my soul in Europe. I realized this in the most unlikely way, I was talking about my favourite English football club and I referred to them as: "My favourite club back home..." After school I'm most likely heading to England, maybe via Toronto where I might go for some additional schooling. It's funny, my parents moved here from England and I'm going to be making the reverse trip. No worries Cowtown, the Flames will have another International Fan!

I get what you are saying, but there is a huge influx of people my age (25-30) from Sask and Maritimes etc with this new boom.
There's not many native Calgarians in ANY age bracket. At least proportionally or what you might expect in most cities.

I'll nominate my wife, who was born and raised in Calgary. As for me, Calgary is the only city / town I've lived in since moving from across the pond 25 years ago -- does that count for half?

Grandma was born and raised in Calgary... if she knew how to use a Computer I would tell her to post in here. Anyway, she is around 70 years old.

Hey, that is where my wife and I bought our house just before we were married. I had always lived in the North, and was very hesitant to buy in the South, but it worked for my wife's employment situation.
Now, I totally love the location. Great access to every part of the city, except the NE which is the least often visited by myself anyway. Great access to the West. Great ammenties. Less than 20 minute commute downtown. Great Takeout places for Saturday night Flames games (Pearl Express and Sophie's mostly). I totally love it here, from a living in Calgary point of view.
I never want to live anywhere in Calgary other than the quadrant between Bow Trail to Glenmore and 14th to (and incl) Signal Hill.

25 years I was born at Foothills Hospital. I've lived in the SW area (Signal Hill) for more that 3/4 of my life. I love this area of the city. It's close to all enmities, but also close to the city limits so ski trips and day trips to Banff are never any trouble.
I love this city It always feels so wonderful coming home after being on vacation. Everything is familiar and there's such a sense of belonging, but it a community sense. Calgary might have a million people, but it sometimes doesn't seem like that (minus the traffic of course ).

Since the day I was born. 23 years and counting. Lived in 3 homes here, Started in Shawnessy, moved to a bigger house in Shawnessy, the moved again to Evergreen. Fish Creek Park is my back yard. Ive seen this city grow exponentially. In the first house, it was nothing but field, empty field.

I bet renting in Midnapore was a nightmare... =P
I was born and raised in Calgary. If you tallied up all the time that I've spent outside the city in my almost 28 years, I bet it wouldn't add up to 3 months. All but the last two years living homes in the S.E. until I moved to Evergreen in the S.W.
Actually, my mom was born and raised in Calgary too. Well, born in Midnapore before it was part of Calgary, but yeah, same diff.

Absolutely. I love it here. I can't believe how much this area has grown in the past ten years. I still remember the little mini traffic circle that existed to get to Signal Hill before 17th extended to Sirocco Drive.

I was only born somewhere else because me rents were going to school in Kamloops...moved back when I was 8 months and been here for 24 years ever since.
Funny too because half of me really wants to leave and other half would fight to the death to never allow it. I imagine I'll spend the latter half of my life in BC -- that plcae just heals the soul -- but until then I'm sticking with Calgary and its opportunities.
Also I think this city has changed in the last 5 years. It's different than it used to be.. I'm not sure how or why but it just is.
