Slaughterhouse Five-Kurt Vonnegut
Man I love this book!!

I read that one over the summer. Definitely a good one.
Most recently, just finished reading A Staggering Work of Heartbreaking Genius, which was a decent read, but in my mind didn't quite live up to the hype that the book had when it came out a couple years ago.
Just started reading The Double, by my the Portuguese writer, Jose Saramago. It's really dense--I'm 20 pages in and there have been about 3 paragraph breaks. Interesting, though. [/b][/quote]
I also read Slaughterhouse 5 over the summer. I agree, it's a winner.
Re: Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius -- I felt it deserved all of the hype for most of it but it also deserved to be wickedly panned for a few sections. That job interview bit went on for about 50 gruelling pages. Still though I thought it was an amazing book. A friend of mine said "it proves you can actually do it", which is pretty good praise I think.
One thing I'd like to see is a Tucker Max (mentioned above) vs. Dave Eggers internet showdown.
Oh yeah and I think I mention this everytime this thread comes up , but "The Fortress of Solitude" by Jonathan Lethem is a head-shaking good book.
