I had to turn it off. The people seem told to act stupid, Foxworthy bothers me, its slow, this show has nothing... My bet is the novelty will soon wear off, and so will the show.

Horrible show. Slow moving and hosted by one of the unfunniest comedians ever. How many times can you laugh at "you just had to cheat off a ten year old!"?

Just to stick up for the UCLA guy. I have a history degree and although I would have known the answer it was only because of the Clinton impeachment. All the history classes I took in college focused on 20th century history because that was more interesting to me. If you ask me a question prior to that century odds are I might not know it.

edit so for all we know his focus could have been Chinese history or something like that....

He stated his focus was U.S. history.

there were some pretty funny moments, but honestly, who would have got the "how many teaspoons in a tablespoon" question right?

I got it as well because I cook a lot. But I was pretty surprised the 5th graders knew it. There's no way they cook. Are they given the topics in advance or something? Either that or they rounded up a bunch of pretty smart 5th graders.

Don't forget; they still use the imperial system in the States. While we learn about millilitres to litres, they learn teaspoons to tablespoons. I recall being tought that in grade 1; prior to us going Metric here.

The one question I got wrong; the largest species of bear. Is that really a grade 1 question?

I'm pretty sure those kids are given a cheat sheet of 100 questions that could be asked during the show. Some of those questions are beyond the grade they say it is (Like the above bear question or the big dipper question) and it would make for a pretty boring show if the kids weren't confident in their answers.

Yeah I read somewhere that the 5th graders on the show are childhood actors they hired. The Big Dipper question was tough.

I was trying to figure out the equations that were used to do the trick and couldn't do it. It made me think that 5th graders really are smarter then me.
It went like this:
"Dolly parton went to the doctor when she was 69" (enter 69 on calc)
"The doctor said her boobs were too too too big" (enter 222 on calc)
"and gave her 51 pills" (enter 51 on calc)
"and told her to come back in 8 weeks" (mupltiply number by 8)
"and when she came back she was" (hit = on calc)
80087355! (Or BOOBLESS )

Good times in grade 5

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I just tried watching some of this show and now feel like i have to vent about it a little bit. Anybody see that stupid woman tonight?

Q: Which continent is also a country
Stupid woman: Thinks about it for a while...says she is pretty sure N.A. is also a country...asks the audience not to laugh at her...thinks more...counts and names all the continents...decides to walk away with $300,000 (this was too hard of a question to go for $500,000 or something like that????)

Stupid woman not yet complete in her exhibition of intelligence says her answer would have been "all of the continents are also countries".

What really amazed me about this is that people cheer for her stupid ass after this. It is also amazing that somebody is financially rewarded in a huge way for this. I figure this show should not have a walk away option...either go all the way and get everything, or get a question wrong and drag dumb ass to a library.

I can honestly say this is the last time I will watch this show. I got way too frustrated watching this idiot struggle through questions such as "how many letter are in the word 'yak'. OK, rant complete
