Just say NO to Wow! Although I recently saw the South Park episode about Warcraft... that was some funny ****.
Seriously. What he said. There's a reason they opened WoW Rehab Clinics in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam!

Everything in moderation...

Somehow throughout two years of playing WoW (most of that spent in a "hardcore" guild where I often averaged four hours or more daily), I've managed to hold a good job, keep a girlfriend (now my wife, no less!), exercise at the gym thrice weekly, and keep an active social life.

I've certainly seen people in my guild that are addicted and more or less live in the game (playing for 10 hours or more each day), but I think they're the vast, vast majority of players. The "average" WoW player probably plays for maybe an hour or two each day, which is really no different than watching primetime tv after work, yet nobody bats an eye at that.

I just found out my brother and my sister are taking the rest of the week off to "level their characters".

And I thought I was bad for taking "sick days" when I go out and get loaded.

Ahhh yes. Moderation. I heard rumours of this.

I wish I could claim the same. Unfortunately, most high end guilds on my server expected you to be on 4 or more nights a week for a minimum of 4 to 5 hours to raid with them. That wouldn't be so bad if the raids didn't start a 7 or 8 and interrupted my hockey time.

My old guild master (who was female - and actually not that bad looking,) was on about 14-16 hours a day. She was a single mom, too. I don't know how she managed to look after her kids, make money, AND play for that long in a day. It was incredible.

I have a buddy who is even worse. He took today off to try the expansion, then is taking next week off instead of this week so he has more rested state available...

For me, the game has stayed interesting for 2 years because I don't play 4 hours a day, every day. Only have 2 60s, a 54, a 41 and a collection fo lowbies. I know people with 13 level 60 characters (and in his case, he is actually married).

I'm a casual player. Don't even have a 60 character and I've been playing for about a year. My wife plays as well so when I do play for a long time its a LAN party.
