Probably doesn't bother them... What do you do when you're put on hold? Your nails, your hair, play a game, surf CP... they probably thank you. The guy who took 48 minutes to hang up just did so because he needed to log out for his break. You're actually doing him a favour.

No sense doing this with the type of phone call the person asked about. These are randomly dialed by a machine, there is no person on the other end. All you are doing is tying up your phone line.

In fact, you are tying up your phone line if there is a person at the other end too.

I make it quick, say, not interested, hang up, takes all of 5 seconds. Then I take their number if it has not been blocked and I do the Telus thing as I said before. Works great for me.
