Another reason I am looking hard at it is that I have heard as far as HD sets go, the SXRDs are one of the best at retaining some quality for standard def signals.
I've got no complaints. Do you have an HD digital cable feed?

Sweet!

We have shaw HD digital, and you can notice a difference between standard and HD, but its understandable. Not a big deal, really.

BUT - Its annoying, for example, when snet has the flames game on standard def and "The Best Damn Sports Show Period" running on their HD channel at the same time... WTF?

If you are only looking at standard, I am sure it wouldn't bother you.

Thats the one negative I would say for shaw HD cable.. not a lot of selection of HD programming. If I was more of a couch potato, I'd be ****ed, but since I only use it for games, sports, and PPV, I am not that displeased. I am happy with the National Geographic and Discovery channels, though. Seriously, there are like 15 channels in their standard HD package... that's weak.

You should let me know how the satellite programming compares in terms of variety and selection in HD programming when you get it!

I can't believe DLP stayed around for as long as it did. When you have that spinning wheel going at 6000rpms that can't be good.

Also is it just me or do ALL lcd tv's look like crap? they always seem blurred and not very sharp. My parents(suckers) bought a $3000 Bravia and it's not even close to my lcd projection and plasma tv. I have NO idea why they didn't ask me before they bought their tv. They totally hate it. hehe.

I'm happy with the TV so far. DVD's look awsome. I don't have the HD reciever yet as the ones with the PVR for Bell were all sold out. Hopefully it will be any day now.

DLP isn't gone. Newer technologies like LED will eliminate color wheels and the rianbow effect while allowing for significantly longer lamp times (20K hours vs. 3K currently). The technology is constantly improving, as with other display technologies.

As for HD programming, I can say that Bell offers a much larger selection than Shaw. They did in 2005 when I switched, and they continue to do so. I get dual feeds of all US networks plus CTV, CBC HD for HINC, TSN HD for their hockey broadcasts, plus at least a dozen other specialty channels and PPV HD channels. Bell is constantly adding HD content as well - A&E HD was just added, HDNet Canada was just added, and I expect other HD channels like Showcase HD will be offered before very long.

There are certainly issues with Bell. But the amount of HD programming is not one of them.

The price at future shop for our set on boxing day was $200 more and 5" smaller than what was to be had at the Sony store, PLUS the salesman was a dick and wouldn't negotiate, so we picked it up at the Sony store instead.

just my 2 cents. if you have the budget, should go for 1080p that u can experience true hd. after speaking to some dealers, i narrow down to sharp aquos 40" or higher or sony xbr series 40 inch or higher. they will only get cheaper and cheaper.

find a deal that comes with bell hd receiver that gives u rebate even u r still an existing customer. u can get an upgrade and rebate without being penalized.
