The wife and I had our first child, a daughter, 4 weeks ago. Easily the biggest highlight and best day of my life.

Started a new job 2 days later, which seemed so insignificant after watching your daughter being born.

2006 was a great year.

Good: Graduated university and finally got my darn degree, watching my brother propose to his girlfriend, my second little nephew being born and then finally getting to meet him, getting my doggie, getting my first "real" job,

Bad: My parents divorce being finalized, the horrible job hunting and all the horrible interviews. Missing out on my one chance to see the Flames live in Ottawa.

a) Welcoming a healthy son #2 to the world in October

b) Selling our crappy old starter home for $250K and buying a much nicer and larger home in a nicer neighbourhood.

Highlights:
- My wife and I moved into our new condo which had a locked in price in the contract that protected us from any price increase since purchasing it pre-built in August 2005.
- Lost around 40 lbs in 2006 (hey, the holidays put a dent in the final tally)
- Found out there's a pond at the end of the street where we can play shinny if it is cold enough.

1. I got married in August, and got to reunite a bunch of family that had not seen each other in years while doing it.

2. Went to Panorama on a mini-honeymoon where we did our first white water rafting, and even took an ATV tour up the side of a mountain to an old zinc mine.

3. Submitted my first letter of intent to purchase a business.

4. Obtained my first degree black belt on the first attempt!

5. Got two kittens for the house.

Low Light:

We had to put our dog down due to old age just a few weeks after the wedding...

Took a 'stress relieving' trip back to Australia in April. Had a self-inflicted 'stress-filled' journey to LAX.
Witnessed a neighbor jump 30 stories to his death. Was forced to see the gory remains after being requested a report to the authorities at ground level.

Moved to Vancouver and bought a condo.

Experienced the West Coast/Lower Mainland's worst weather in eons. I'll never forget my first autumn here which started off hot and extremely dry only to turn into record rainfall, winds, and snow. No potable water for a week and a half and power outages off and on for over a month. Seeing Vancouver's jewel: Stanley Park in absolute ruins was absolutely surreal.

Officially and once and for all quit being a 'social smoker' on Nov 14!

Enjoyed watching the Flames as a road team for the first time at GM Place. 3-2 victory!

THE GOOD:
- sold our condo, made some sweet cash, and paid off my husband's law
school loans.
-Trips: went to Lake Tahoe/Reno where we gambled and ski'd, went to Orange County and Los Angeles (Disneyland was fun, as well as multiple Dodgers games!), Arizona (Grand Canyon), San Diego for Thanksgiving (my favorite city in California), Kentucky (it's so different there but I love it)
- watching the Oilers beat Detroit, SJ, Anaheim..especially the Sharks series since I live in San Jose and it was just FUN to be going for the winning team and rubbing it in here
- getting a new lil puppy (Jack Russell Terrier) from a shelter. He brings so much joy to my day!

The BAD:
-my sweet old yellow lab mix had to be put down due to old age and cancer. RIP Pumpkin
- didn't get to go visit Alberta this year where my brother and parents live. Im coming in March though! YAY!
- Watching the Oilers lose in Game 7 of the playoffs

Lookin forward to in 2007:
- going back to watch the Oilers in March vs Calgary, helping my parents move from Fort McMurray to Calgary in the summertime, going to Cape Cod in May for the week, going to either Italy or Ireland in September, Kentucky for Thanksgiving, and my Calgary for Christmas!
- buying another condo as soon as prices go a lil lower
- getting a new car next week!
- learning to cook more yummy food!
- Oilers making the playoffs and hopefully doin something this year!
