Nice choice! We've got the XBR1 ourselves last summer.

Yes, SD blows compared to HD However, I find that out of all the other HD LCD screens out there, the Sony Bravia engine does one of the better jobs with upconverting to signal to the full size of its screen. And the XBR is one best in colour and black levels - almost as good as plasma.

This one is in my bedroom, it's a little oversized for the room, but I don't care. It's like a movie theatre. I think I am going to wait on the HD box for a while. I'll just pick up the digital cable box for the $98 instead. I still can play 360 in HD.

Another nice TV, I'm starting to feel deprived but in my opinion buying a standard definition box for a HDTV is like throwing $98 away. Get the HD box.
