I miss having lefse. My parents haven't made it in a long time and I'm not sure how to do make it myself. I'll have to settle for oliebollen (some dutch thing aka oily balls) but it isn't as good as lefse. (My family is norwegian and my wife's family is dutch.)

Anyone else home, going home, for the Holiday season?
Not me. In fact, Christmas day is a regular work day here in Japan - though I am taking the day off. That said, there is a nice side benefit (as New Year's doubles as Christmas here in Japan) - I work Tuesday and Wednesday this week and our office is closed until January 4. And the 5th is a Friday - so I'm taking that off to get a nice long break. Looking at friends itineraries, as well, for whatever reason a lot of my friends are not in Calgary, so it's not all that bad. Also considering that I had my mom visit last summer, other friends coming out here for the holidays and my sister and brother looking like they'll be making a trip in the spring - I'm not sure I really need to go back home to catch up with everyone!

The one thing I will miss is the WJC's. The annual New Year's sumo tourney is nowhere near as interesting...

I'm flying back to Nova Scotia on Christmas day. All of my friends graduated university and then scattered to all four corners of the globe, but at Christmas most everyone comes back for a few days. And all of my family going back generations all live in New Scotland.

But as more and more friends get families and settle down, fewer and fewer come back. And as the family gets older, all I hear about is achey joints and back pain.

Hopefully, it is not restricted to Canadian IP addresses. A lot of content on CTV Broadband (of which TSN is a part) is restricted

My second christmas in Rome. I think I'll go check out midnight mass tonight at the Vatican. Why not, eh?
