A Xmas related "good day". A few years ago I moved to Vancouver from Calgary. It was the first time living away from the family.

The first time I had a chance to come back for a visit was Xmas day. I flew back on Xmas eve. Everyone flying back was so happy as most were going home for the holidays.

When I arrived in Calgary we wre ahead of schedule so my family wasn't there yet but I sat and watched great scenes unfold as families greeted each other (similar to what the start of Love Actually IIRC).

But really what made the day great was just coming home for Xmas. I always like Xmas, but "coming home for Xmas" just makes it all the more special.

Not a bad day at all.

Any day hiking & camping

Any day in spring time, just before finals in April, when I go to school and there's sunlight AND when I get off school and there is still sunlight.

Any day I get to play more then 3 hours of soccer

Any day that I wake up after a good night's sleep (I have clinical insomnia due to a tyroid problem, so this is maybe once every two months)

I had a pretty impressive day last Monday. I have been studying production accounting at night at MRC (for the past couple of years I have taken care of the kids while my wife drags home the bacon). I wrote my final exam for the last course on December sixth, and on Monday my instructor e-mailed me with the news that I pulled off 100% on the case study portion of the exam. Then she asked me if I wouldn't mind sending her my resume because her company is hiring!!

'Twas a pretty nice day for me.

Thursday was a really good day for me. The boss called me into his office and shot me $500 and said "go do some Christmas shopping". Well, the wife and I have a $40 limit because, well, we ain't rich with her working part-time and day care costs and such. So I did what any responsible husband/father would do. Went to the bank and cashed it and promptly blew most of it on gifts for the wife. What can I say? She'll feel like a queen on Christmas day and she deserves it....

The day my nephew recieved his kidney transplant, 2 years ago when he was 18 months old. The kidney started to work right away and this little guy who was on dialysis 4 times a week, from the time he was 2 months old, no longer had to endure that anymore. He's a little miracle and it makes me so happy to see him playing and acting like a normal 3 year old boy.

Also, when my kids wake up and the first thing they do is give me a big hug .. It starts my day off just right and always puts me in a good mood.

In August this year, I got a new job, new car, and my daughter's 4th
birthday. All in one day.

I told my daughter, "It's been a great day! I got a new car, new job,
and a NEW 4 YEAR OLD!" Got lots of bonus daddy points for that one.
