Not to take anything away from 'Sugar Tits', but I think Honey Muff is the bees knees. It even almost sounds sweet.

You don't watch his movies and yet they are crap?? That really makes zero sense whatsoever. I'm not saying Travolta's movies are good, most of them do suck, but I at least have the right to call it crap because I have seen it.
Edit: To answer the question, I will see Apacolypto, I couldnt care less about what Mel said, I like his movies, and Im sure I will like this one. I'm not gonna be watching this thinking to myself. "I cant believe Mel said those things about Jews"......That's the last thing that would come to my mind.

No, you're not mistaken. That one was called The Passion of the Christ.
I will be seeing this one, possibly on Friday. I've been asked to review it for the paper, so I don't have a lot of choice. I think the Mayan historical aspects are interesting, but if it's really an allegorical take on the decline of Western society, I'll probably find it a little odious. In the interests of fairness, I'll try to give it a chance, though....

Any way that you can post your review. I'm tempted to go see it, but I've heard mixed reviews of it.
Even though the subject matter is interesting.
I'm betting that there are some gory sacrifices followed by three Mayan's doing a three stooges routine, and a subtitled conversation that states that the chief of the tribe is "Too old for this sh$t"

Sure, I'll post it. I'll be sure to mention if there's any wacky hi-jinx involving one of them carrying a 2X4 and turning around without looking.

Judging a movie from snippets and reviews is down right ignorant. Say you don't wanna see it because you don't think it looks very good, I got no issue with that. But calling something crap when you havent seen it, thats just ridiculous.

Not to poke my nose in, but we ARE talking about the John Travolta who was in BOTH Battlefield Earth AND Phenomenon, right?
It may be that a little over-generalization is justified in this case....

agreed, in Travolta's case assuming it will suck will save you more than it will cost you. Also works with Kevin Costner....possibly the worst actor in the world next to David Caruso.

Shudder.... NOBODY is worse than David Caruso. The looming over children thing on CSI: Miami really creeps me out.

I'd like to see your review. I'm very intererested in Mayan culture (have been to Chichen Itza and Tulum).
I think there is a bit of historical innaccuracy. The movie is set in the 1500s (just after contact with Europe), but the Mayan civilization collapsed much earlier.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayan_Empire
For reasons which are still much debated, in the 8th and 9th centuries AD (the "Terminal Classic" period) Maya culture went into decline, with most of the cities of the central lowlands abandoned. Detailed monumental inscriptions all but disappeared. Although there is no universally accepted theory to explain Mayan decline, current theories fall into two categories: non-ecological and ecological. Non-ecological theories of Mayan decline are divided into several subcategories, such as foreign invasion, peasant revolt, the collapse of key trade routes, catastrophe, epidemic disease and climate change.
Village Voice:
http://www.villagevoice.com/film/064...,75217,20.html
Given the absence of any identification, and with regard to their good looks and family values (that is, keeping pet monkeys and having babies), these noble savages might be called the Sugar Tit tribe.
Maybe the Mayans really did bounce human heads down the steps of their pyramids but, being as their civilization collapsed hundreds of years before the Spanish conquest, how would we know? "A lot of it, story-wise, I just made up," Gibson confessed to the Mexican junketeers who visited his set last year. "And then, oddly, when I checked it out with historians and archaeologists and so forth, it's not that far [off]."

Anyone notice that Mel Gibson is in the commercials for this movie? He's sitting there talking and they show parts of the movie. That is some strange marketing. I don't remember any other movie where they had the director in the commercial. They appear to be doing the opposite of "playing down" his involvement in the movie. I don't know if that's a good idea or not but it's pretty bold.

Damn Rouge, was just about to say that.
They are really running towards Mel Gibson and not away from him. Even the offical title is "Mel Gibson's Apocalpto"

I guess they just figure nobody really cares anymore, and even if they do, his drawing power will more than outpace the negative sentiment surrounding him.

Only the most sensitive types would avoid the movie because of his rantings. He's not even in the movie. And like someone said, if you didn't watch movies because you disagree with personal lives/beliefs of the actors you wouldn't have much to watch.
Marlon Brando was generally considered a lunatic and an ******* for the last 40 years of his life but you'd be crazy not to watch some of the movies he was in.
That being said, the general creepiness of both Tom Cruise and John Travolta keep me away from their movies. Too bad though. Tom Cruise was in lots of excellent movies. And I must admit that the Beck cds I have are a little different now since this Scientology hocus pocus got so much play.

same here, I just can't seem to get into as much anymore knowing he fell for such a ridiculous cult. It's not that I avoid listening to Beck's music, it just doesn't have the same kind of presence anymore.

Would you say the same about openly Christian artists (ex Bob Dylan, Prince)? Why or why not?

No, that's not where I was heading. I think the thread raises the question: Can you seperate the art from the artist?
