Well, I went...
Took about 10 minutes to line up at the pre-station thing where they go over your application to see if you missed anything...
some guy showed up with what I assume was one done online, because as soon as he was finished at the pre-station, he went straight to the teller.
I only had to wait about 20 minutes, and was out in a total of about 40minutes, not bad at all.
Most of the problem was i missed a bunch of dates on my "previous 2 years of employment and school".
Went pretty well, but yeah...
Only supposed to take till Dec. 19th to get.. thats pretty darn good.

There is some stat that only about 20% of americans actually have passports... I just don't see why you wouldn't have one... just incase... if you are able too. (not you specifically, just people in general. What if an emergency came up, or you won a trip, and couldn't go because you didn't have a passport?)
I don't know what the rules are for Americans coming into Canada, but you might as well get one, spend the $80 (cdn what i paid today) and have piece of mind knowing you can watch a BOA.

I actually don't have a Canadian passport, they're harder to get than the U.S. one I have.
I want one eventually though, Does anyone have the link to the online application?
Thanks

Trust me, you will thank me later.

Agree, agree, agree. You go to the front of the cue. Unfortunatly registerring for e-pass can take a couple weeks.

10 buisness days if you go in and get it done at the teller
20 buisness days if you mail it in
+2-3 days for mail.
But do the online thing, seems to work better.

Well I know that one of the differences with regards to American and Canadian passports is that the Canadian ones expire every 5 years whereas the American ones don't expire for 10 years. I have a Canadian one, but I just became a US citizen less than a month ago and didn't apply for the US one. I have no idea which one Im supposed to use going in and out of the country so Ill just get both I guess.
But yeah, I definately agree that it's good to have one just in case one needs to travel (esp if you have family outside the country as I do...OILFAN #81 aka my lil brother and my parents live in Alberta)

bah.
But i am registered online, so that might help... i just don't have that actual application with me, since my guarantor didn't sign it.

There are certain print settings you have to make so you dont go outside of the margins. It says rite on the application how to set the proper print settings. Once you do that, prints up exactly the same as if you picked one up in person.

Canadians do not nor will they require a passport to enter Canada....all they require is proof of citizenship.

Use your Canadian Passport when entering Canada and your US passport when entering Canada. If your Canadian PP expires....it is still considered proof of citizenship when returning to Canada.

No, its because I had like 7 things to add for the past 2 years field, which made my applications over 3 pages, which screwed everything up...
I had the margins right, but it was too long apparently.
