Rome does at times call guys out but normally it is guys who do not come on his show.

When guys are on the show he acts as though they are the greatest players in the history of their sport and the best guys in the world. I know everyone host has to do this to some extent or else nobody comes on but he seems to do way more than anyone else.

I listen to a lot of sports radio and find the ESPN way better than him and the Fox guys as well. I dont mind talk about college football, NASCAR, NFL etc. so I love ESPN.
Depends who you are talking about. As i said Jason Smith is the man, but Cowheard and Patrick suck a**....Mike and Mike are ok though.

I actually am starting to like Dan Patrick. I used to hate him but the more I listen to him I am starting to like him.

I disagree with almost everything Cowherd says but I still like listening to his show. He knows something about sports which is more than Rome and at least challenges his guests to give opinion and back up their points.

Rather than having puff interviews with guys he talks sports with the guests he has and gets some interesting discussions about sports on his show.

I guess it has to do with what you are looking for in a show. Rome is much more about entertainment and personal interviews. I find Patrick, Cowherd et. al. at ESPN have more actual talk about sports. It is interesting that you like Jason Smith (I think he is okay) because I think he is most like Rome in the puff interview/entertainment show on ESPN.

I really miss Kornheiser on ESPN. He was the best. His show had entertainmetn (Ten times more funny than Rome and had plenty of sports talk as well. He does blow smoke up his guests ass sometimes but not as bad as Rome). He had a rule that he didn't like to have athletes on the show because they had nothing interesting to say but the same tired lines. I agree for the most part and probably why I really liked his show.

Kornheiser was great I will give you that.

I love Smith simple because he is probably the single best storyteller that I have ever heard on sports radio. His segments and takes are so well constructed its insane. I think as far as a pure broadcaster goes, he is the best i have ever listened to.

I guess I'm in the minority of Rome fans that only listens to hear him go off on a tangent about topics such as:

-wacko (love that adult alarm)
-drunk drivers (especially celebrities)
-crocodiles roaming LA
-rain in LA
-america vs. america's hat (that's us)
-ok, did you want us to come over and shoot her?
-Tonya Harding

He's no longer a true sports guy. His show has taken on a life of it's own and he's riding the wave. To complain about how he contradicts himself is to say that you don't like the show and don't understand it. Which is fine. I hated the show for a long time, but I worked with a guy that insisted on listening everyday. Took me about a month before I started to like it.

When the pats won their second SB a few years back, Rome was supposed to intervies some RB from a small town in Kentucky. The interview ended up being postponed til the next day but nevertheless, some guy from that town called and said that he really enjoyed the interview. Rome strung him along for a minute or two before the call ended...
Best part was the email response.

Dear Jim... GREAT interview with (that guy from the pats).
Sincerely, Marty McFly

That email had me laughing all day.

I loved his rant this past Halloween about people who wear costumes to work. Classic, my friend subscribed just so he could play it again.

Yep. Because Rome thought Everett was a pansy who wouldnt take a hit so he kept calling him Chris.
