A sitting justice does act as a judge though, there is lots of administrative case law on the matter.
Things are different across Canada though. In Ontario, I believe, they really discourage the M'Lord/M'Lady stuff. They go for gender-neutral Justice for Court of Appeal members and Your Honour for everyone else. Doesn't matter a whole lot though. Good luck in court dude. Or dudette. Or whatever the gender-neutral form of dude is.

Well it went pretty good. Most important part to take away from this is I got my demerits cut. I payed the fine, all in all it worked out pretty good, hopefully I wont have to go through this again! Thanks for all the help from CP posters.

Its actually kind of a weird story as to how I got this ticket.

I was at shanks north with a few of my friends watching the game (probably was on PPV), and i had a 2 beers over the course of 3 hours. Anyways I jumped in my car and started to head home and got stopped by a cop for making a "left turn" unsafely. He came up to the car, and I scrambled to find my documentation, but DID after 5-10 mins, when he promptly asked me If I had been drinking tonight, in which I gave him an honest answer (2 beers in a span of 3 hours). Anyways he said he could smell booze on my breath and I was getting uneasy somewhat. Anyways he asked me to step out of the car and take a seat in the back of the cop car. At this point I was kind of confused because I didnt understand what was entirely happening at the moment. He informed me with my operators license (graduated driver) that I am not allowed to have ANY alcohol at all in my system. Anyways they said they were gonna take my license away for one month, and my car was going to be impounded. At this point I was scared BIG time as I drive back and forth from calgary to red deer on the weekends (im going to school in calgary). Anyways they had a breathalizer come and I blew, and luckily I blew 0.00. But let me tell you this, it wasnt fun in the least. I was shaken up for a long while afterwards. Anyways I made it out with only my fine mentioned above. Im telling this story to make myself as somewhat of an example to people on CP who do drink and drive with there graduated license (even if its 2 beers, or even 1 beer for some people).

Thanks for all the help once again guys.

"Cut" as in reduced, or removed completely?

How? You are the first person I've heard of to successfully do this after they changed the rules. What did the ticket end up being changed to since you only paid a fine?

So i take it the ticket wasn't squashed but merely reduced to a fine without demerits. Is that correct?

Then you done good!

I had that type of thing done to a ticket a few years ago. Works like a charm and no worries about insurance going up.

Don't do it again!

What were you thinking?

Next time you should check for cops first...

I think I learned this last one after 2 or 3 court appearances myself!
