WHY?!?! Why would you bother to buy it today on ebay?
I don't understand this concept. Does anyone have patience?

I think he is waiting 2 weeks to buy it in the stores.
Zelda is one kick ass game. Worth it to get the WII just for this game.

I know that.. I mean why are people buying them for twice the price.
Are they shipping every two weeks or something? Cause I'm planning on getting one.

they'll probably be shipping more than every 2 weeks. Nintendo is trying to get 4 million out by the end of the year, so I'd expect plenty of availability very soon.
As a developer, I'm pretty excited by this console, since it's
1. cheap to develop
2. forces some level of innovation with the control scheme
3. is really accesible to non-hardcore gamers
The first point is important because AAA titles are going for 12-25+ million dollars on budget, and recouping that is a major pain (especially given the current install base of 360s, let alone PS3). A Wii title shouldn't cost more than 2-6 million to make, which is far easier to recoup... assuming their market share grows as much as Nintendo wants it to, this will be awesome.
The second point isn't as important as the first, because a lack of innovation is largely driven by skyrocketing costs in the industry. It's safer to make a $15 million dollar sequel to a game with a known install base than to spend the same amount promoting new intellectual property. Low risk, high reward. The innovative control scheme means that even sequel-heavy franchises like Madden have new tricks to them, which is important to prevent industry stagnation and promote growth.
Lastly, the industry does need to grow, and including non-hardcore gamers is going to be critical. Nintendo's success with Nintendogs, Brain-Age, etc. has been huge for the DS. The design of the Wii is specifically made to be non-intimidating to non-gamers (the controller looks like a remote and not a 20 button monster controller), the interfaces to games can be obvious without much instruction, and overall the experience is inviting rather than intimidating. We as an industry need to attract a larger market (more women, in particular), and I think the Wii is poised to help accomplish that.
So, as cool as the 360 and PS3 are, to me they're still just more of the same, while the Wii is something different. And something different is, imo, something that's pretty important. Of the big 3, I really hope Nintendo does very well this generation, as I think we'll all benefit from it.
All that said, I've been having a ton of fun with mine. It's really a slick little system.

And this is why the Wii intrigues me as well... I used to be a hardcore gamer and I still play WOW every once in awhile, but thats it. I think this system looks really fun. I go to the bar down the street to play Golden Tee all the time, but i don't like Tiger Woods on the 360. To me the Wii is golden tee compared to 360/PS3 being Woods....

I find this stuff hilarious. The guy gets enough donations to buy the consoles and smashes them in front of all the waiting fanboys. He just did the PS3 the other day.

Any of you guys playing Zelda wanna help me out here? I'm trying to get the cat so that woman will sell me stuff but I can't seem to get it. Anyone figure it out? (I'm sure it's not hard, getting the basket back from the monkey was easy enough.)

Was quite possibly the longest night of my night but was it ever awesome. We got egged at one point. I got there at 5 and got bored so I got the guys in line to hold my spot and walked up to Walmart from Futureshop and bought Risk. We played that all night, eventually it started raining but we were ok because we had built a Wii fort out of cardboard boxes. When we went into the store the employees were like, you guys are the Wii fort guys right? It was pretty sweet. All in all the best all nighter that I have had in a long while!

I drove into Edmonton and got in line an hour before Futureshop on 170th Street opened.
My wife and I were too late unfortunately, as they had already handed out vouchers for 78 units and we were amongst 15 or so people who were too late.
Its okay because we had other errands to run at West Edmonton Mall anyway.
Im going to see if my smalltown radioshack (The Source) got any units (he is not open on Sundays).

The sound effects when they smash the Wii are awesome. I also got a laugh out of the guy asking them if he can have their 360 controller after they smashed the 360.
