ahhhh....there it is..

thanks alot everyone, for whatever reason I've been wanting to listen to this sng for so long. I've been listening to my mp3 player at work for 3 weeks now without adding songs and this just popped into my head for some reason.

Isn't up to Mos Def, Talib Kweli or even Big brother's level but I like the song.

I am thinking you mean Little Brother, if so, yes they make great music.

Yes you're right, my mistake.

It's a shame they arent more popular but I think Chris Rock said it best. People don't have a problem with concious rap but Concious beats. I would love to see what some of these guys could do on a mainstream beat.

I just remember this song from way back and wanted to listen to it agin. Besides I didnt say anything about it being lyrical. Theres more than just lyrics. Most people like songs with good hooks and beats. Lyrical or Not. If it were the other way around Immortal Technique would be huge right now.

You can't really dance to songs by Mos Def or Talib Kweli. Gauranteed if most of thier CDs were produced by guys like Timbaland, Just Blaze, Scott Storch etc. they wouldnt have a problem getting concious rap out there.

Besides the fact that he wrote that AFTER you had already found the song.

Anyone else into Atmosphere?

9th Wonder makes great beats for Little Brother and many of the other Justus League acts. Some stuff will just never be popular.

That is the truth. People have no intrest in hearing concious lyrics, some will disagree but I truly believe it. Of course there will always be some people who see past the "bling bling" and the sexual references, but not the mainstream audience.

9th Wonder is amazing though. Probably the best beat maker in hip hop IMO.

I will have to check these guys out. I have sort of stopped listening to hip hop in the past few years. Just too much time and effort to find quality albums. I did pull out an Atmosphere cd that I made about 5 years ago and watched Block Party recently and realized how much I liked still liked hip hop. There's great tunes in Entourage too which I am watching now. Some KRS ONE who I had totaly forgot about for example.

Keep the suggestions coming.

I picked up a Little Brother CD (The Minstrel Show) a whle back and was not impressed by it at all. It quickly ended up forgotten on my CD rack.

I guess different strokes for different folks

Yep. Saw him last year at Mac Hall, great show!

It kind of sucks that the only place to hear good hip hop in Calgary is on CJSW, twice a week. Vibe is such crap.
