Searched Calgary Flames in summer of 2000. Posted in the old tree style forum, my first post was actually impersonating Marc Savard. hahaha A couple people fell for it too.

After a long painful year on the sporsnet forums, I stumbled across the link to CP. I came on here and never looked back.

The real question is, when did you hear about Calgaryrick.com?

I did a search for Calgary Flames and found this forum. Lurked for a year before I finally signed up. I didn't sign up to post mind you. I did it because I wanted to see what emoticons CP had...*blush*

If I never graduate, I'm blaming CP.

I did an internet search back in the day and although a bunch came up, I loved this one. I remember loving the Prospect Draft Chart on the mian page!

I was really really annoyed with the lack of coverage here in Ontario and just started looking for an alternative. I lurked for a loooooong time because I had never posted on an internet message board before and was actually very nervous about jumping in with my 2 cents.

That's funny, I lurk over there too. Never posted though.

I found this site when looking for Flames news in Montreal due to the horrible coverage the Flames (and Western Conference in general) receive out here.

DeanOMac's brother Jeff told me about it in the FireOnIce days.. I remember when it was www.addr.calgarypuck.com or something like that.

I guess I'm an old fogie around here.

AbusedFlamesFan and Pilsner12 got me onto CP. I still don't post too much fearing I'll get hammered on by the likes of Lanny and such

The newbies I can handle but I don't know what I would do if some of the elders came after me

I used to post on the Sportsnet Forums all the time, but then I got sick of all the immature posters there. They would constantly have "insider" information that was never remotely close to being true.

My buddy told me about this so I checked it out. My first week here, Snowdude starts some bogus rumour about JD confirming a Turek To Rangers trade rumour. I'm thinking to myself, this place is exactly the same as the SN forums.

But then the major backlash Snowdude got, the threat of a permanent ban, and even some actual hockey insiders (Roger Milions) squashing that rumour.

I thought there was going to be this much drama everyday.

Been here ever since. I don't post as much as I used to, but I still lurk on a daily basis

When I was living in NB and found out that my fiance got a job in Calgary and that we would be moving in a week I went online to try to find a messageboard based in Calgary so that I could ask some questions. I came across this one and my first post was about where some good places to live out here are.

I had actually found it once, spent about an hour or two lurking on it, then promptly forgot about it completely. I think it was mentioned in the Herald the summer of 2003 when I found it again, and was hooked that time round.

My first day I disagreed with Lanny in a thread about golf v. hockey and he tore a strip off me big time. Like many posters, my start was a little rough.

Yeah, Lanny had it in for me at the start too. I remember one epic thread (epic for me at least) where I was called a great replacement once Joey Moss retired. A bunch of crap like that. I basically responded saying I wasn't going to get into that kind of crap, and I think he laid off.

We've been best friends ever since.

I don't even remember the particulars of it... I think it was right after the site migrated to Rivals in 1999 or 2000 and D'Arcy (Bingo) asked me if I wanted to be a writer for the site. He was on the Flames mailing list at the time.

I also posted on Usenet but that was steadily declining. I was looking to stay involved with the Flames after I'd parted ways with the Herald (I used to be the webmaster for www.theflames.com and before that my own Flames website back when the Internet was tiny and it was the only Flames page - official or unofficial).
