Now thats’ Sutter Hockey

The Hurricanes came out flying on all cylinders Wednesday as the Canes took it to the Maple Leafs at the ACC. Coming off a slow start against the Panthers two nights ago it looks like Darrly Sutter had the boys crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s.

The scoring was spread out throughout the forward units as Heatley, Yelle, Dumont, Langkow and Pyatt all added their first of the season a the Canes blew past the Leafs in a 5-1 victory.

After giving up 33 shots Monday night against the Panthers the Hurricanes were able to get back to their ways and shut the door on the leafs holding them to a low 20 shots. “The boys really played hard in front of me tonight, they blocked most of the leafs opportunities and the shots that did get through I had a clear lane to see them” commented the netminder David Aebischer.

The Hurricanes now head to Washington to face off against the Capitals and Coach Sutter has to be wondering which team will show up to face the Capitals, they sluggish team that lost a 2-1 game in the opening game of the season are the hard hitting defensive machine that grinded down the fallen leafs.

Flames 3 Canucks 2

Flames win this one in the last minutes of the game.
The Canucks were in this one for the long haul and a last minute goal by the Flames gave them the two points.
Kiprusoff had to be stellar again. Whats a team without a good goaltender. Mike Knuble had the hot hand tonight potting two goals and was named to as the Games 1st star. GM Axmann is still trying to figure the sim out a bit as some players that were obviously front line players were very short on ice time minutes. Ahh well its a new season, and maybe the GM needs to shake some of that old rust off.

Goalie Statistics

Martin Biron (CAN), 27 saves out of 30 shots, L, 1-1-0
Miikka Kiprusoff (FLA), 23 saves out of 25 shots, W, 2-0-0

Power Play Conversions

CANUCKS 0 for 3
FLAMES 1 for 3

Game Stars
1 - Mike Knuble (FLA)
2 - Miikka Kiprusoff (FLA)
3 - ????????

Brutal start to the season in Ottawa. 2 Games 2 shutouts.
Things are not very rosey on Ottawa.
