Well I answered what your original question asked.

But, I don't think the nuclear testing will get very far. When i was younger I may have worried about stuff like this, but the older I get the less I worry until it actually happens.

World War 3 could start tomorrow. I could care less. As long as there is no draft in Canada, then who cares. If there were a draft, I'd be unfit for some reason or another. But in all honesty, why do YOU care? North Korea will not be allowed to do too much, the US/China will impose some sort of muffle on them, and we will move on with our day-to-day lives. Hence, back to the original point of this thread, we need not start a pool on when the test will occur, for it probably won't ever occur.

Japan is one of the biggest military spenders in the world. Their military is the closest to the US in tech hardware.

True..

The differnce is that the Japanese constitution forbids them from opening fire on anyone... basically... if fired upon they cannot return fire without government approval.... it is in the consititution.

That is why they do not do many peacekeeping missions....

But... the new prez Abe and the old one Koizumi (sp?) were both working hard to try and move them away from that.....

Quite frankly... this whole NK thing has me concerned.... mostly about the remilitarization of the entire Asian area.... including Japan .. and the increase of a military in China... I worry about China's allegiance in this issue.

You are right - apparently they were #4 in 2005.

I don't know how much of that translates into combat-readiness dollars:

Interestingly enough, Japan's per capita spending was $2.00 more than Canada's.

No ****...he will let everyone else fight for his freedom but he won't stand up tofight for his own freedom.

The wars of today are a lot different than WWI and WWII. There wont be a need for a draft as we can just fire rockets at the other country from home or from a destroyer. The only time they would need man power would be to actually invade the country and hold on to it.

I don't expect anyone to fight for me... and what is this freedom you guys are so worried about? You can't honestly think North Korea will take over?

The only countries that coould take over are the ones with the man-power. China, India, Or USA. And no one will ever convince me that my life would change if one of those countries ruled us.

You can honestly say, with out hesitation, that your life would not change if China or India took over canada?

Or...if they shot nuclear weapons at each other and all the radioactive material drifted over to his house.

But that will never happen, just like NK getting nuclear weapons will never hapen.

Not saying it WILL happen but you can't say it won't happen.

In the event of a major conflict with the need for men, I wouldn't wait for the draft letter in the mail. I'd be first in line at the recruiting office.
