another guy that most people i talk to aren't aware of as far as being a funny comedian - bob saget.

jon wing used to be on conan a lot, he's pretty clever too.
I've heard that about Saget as well.

There is a story about Leary playing No Cure for Cancer demo tape for Bill in Bill's car as they were going somewhere (they were close friends apparently) and when Leary's whole bit about smoking came on, Hicks parked the car in the street, got out and walked away and never talked to Leary again. Then died shortly after.

Edit: I'll try and find the article, but I think it was in Playboy. (Don't judge me!)

Anybody ever heard of Mike Birbiglia?

http://www.birbigs.com/

He's got a .wav file streaming on this site so all you have to do is stay on the page and listen. His cracker bit is gold.

Kevin Pollak is a great stand up comedian aside from being a pretty fine actor. He does great impressions.

Here's a 90 second clip of him doing Walken on a radio show.

Oh he knew he had it at that point and made jokes about it himself. He was ticked cause Leary's smoking bit is directly lifted from Bill's act.

My favorite lesser knowns are Pablo Francisco and John Pinette.

Pablo had an HBO special and John you'll likely recognize from a couple appearances on Just for Laughs...but man are they funny.

Pinette does Fat humor very well and Pablo does the "movie preview" voice which is hilarious.

Pre Corner Gas Brett Butt cracks me up. He has a special that airs on the Comedy Network from time to time. Very clean humour but very good.

Norm Macdonald is awesome. New CD is hit and miss. His funniest moments are when he guests on Conan and Jon Stewart or other talk shows.

Too soon to talk about the crocodile hunter?

Just tried to watch that Norm Mac clip here at work and had to stop after 35 seconds as I was giggling like school girl. Frick that guy is funny...his delivery is just so unusual.

This could go in the badly reviewed movie thread too, but Dirty Work is a very very hilarious movie that all the critics hated...

Glen "That Canadian Guy" Foster is one of my favs.

Lewis Black is becoming more known, and Ron White is the other guy from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour (in my opinion the best of the four).

I saw Shawn Majumder (sp) out last Saturday, his standup is good, but not huge on the Just for Laughs TV hosting/gigs/bits, or his 22 Minutes Stuff. (Frank Toomey always cracked me up on that show).

I agree with Mitch Hedburg, comedic genious, as well as Norm MacDonald. If you like Norm you'll probably like Steven Wright as well - dry, gravelly voice, and hilarious.

I love Carlos Mencia's standup, he had me in tears when I saw him for the first time.

Derek Edwards is another Canadian great, he recently did a tour around Atlantic Canada, but the ******* was in Sydney when I was in Halifax, and he was in Halifax when I was in Sydney

If I think of more I'll post them... I love standup

Well, MQS, Steven Wright is simply one of the greatest ever. Mitch got some of his style directly from Wright.

I had the pleasure of seeing Steven Wright in person a few years ago. Money well spent!

My friend, who i worked with, had been talking about Dane Cook since 1998 when the guy was like a nobody and just had audios through Napster, but he swore he was the funniest comedian ever and impersonated all his skits. We stopped talking after 2000-2001, so whenever i see Dane Cook on TV, i think of him.
