It's the Interim Metis Harvesting Agreement that was signed on September 28th, 2004. It basically allows for all members of the Metis nation to have harvesting rights in the province of alberta. Sustinence hunting is the primary purpose of it but it is so vague that it leaves lots to be desired. Metis hunters can hunt any time of the year, for any kind of animal without the need to have tags, as well as they can harvest however much they need for sustinence.

Very proud to be a part of this organization.
My dad is a lifetime member and has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the organization over the last decade.
It is truly one of the most worthwhile environmental organizations in the world.

Actually there is a lot of truth to that statement. Cleaning and packing an animal out isn't generally a lot of fun.

Bah...it's all part of the experience. You should have to work hard to bring home something so magnificent.
and I've been on some hellacious pack outs.

I'm Wiccan and I completely endorse hunting and fishing as long as you use the animal as best as you can and make sure it doesn't suffer too much.
Two reasons for this...
Hunting your own food shows you up close the sacrifise this animal has made for you. Not like picking up a pound of beef at the market.
Animals in the wild tend to live better than animls in captivity.
As long as you aren't hunting for horns or for the thrill of just killing something and then letting it go to waste I think it's a GOOD thing. Just respect the animal, that's all.

I agree with you 100%. I do not endorse hunting for trophy's at all. It is nice to get a big, 20-Point bull you can be assured that every bit of meat will be eaten. It's upsetting to knwo that people out there hunt just for the trophy's.

We have hunting season in our house. My husband is an avid hunter and disappears around the beginning of September with his bow and doesn't reappear until the end of rifle season.
I spend those months hunting too. For someone to help with dishes, laundry, homework, Christmas shopping, ect.
However, it does give me the opportunity to clean out the hundreds of hunting magazines in our bathrooms. And watch a hockey game or two in peace and quiet.
Not quite a fair shake but what's a girl to do?

I forgive your ignorance, a few or the older posters here know me...
I'm a HE...
And as I always joke, not a hard choice joining a religion where 90% of the following are female AND they believe in free love...
But in truthfulness, wiccan or paganism is as old as human history and has much more science attributed to it than modern christianty. As well they have proven to be the most forgiving and the least war like of all religions.
I can explain further with actual quoted proof if you want to continue.
Till then I'll enjoy all the free love and the green grass...

I've been out a few times to try and get a late season elk. No luck yet.
Going out again on Friday for close of season, so hopefully the last day is the day we get one.
