What the hell are the words to that song anyway?

I believe it's "Blinded by the light. Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night."

I had always thought it was "Racked up like a deuce, another roller in the night"

I know KevanGuy's is the commonly accepted one though.

I checked wikipedia and it seems like there are two versions of the song which may have contributed to the debate...

Quote:
The chorus of the song features the commonly misunderstood lyric, "Blinded by the light, cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night." ("Deuce" refers to a '32 Ford Deuce Coupe.) Many listeners incorrectly hear the word "######" in place of "deuce." Manfred Mann changed this line slightly (as "revved up like a deuce") and repeated it much more frequently in their version than Springsteen did in the original; they also omitted parts of the verses and rearranged the order of the remaining lyrics.
Springsteen's version has been described as folky and acoustic compared to Manfred Mann's harder rock take on the song, which prominently features early electronic keyboards.
However, Bruce Springsteen, in his 2005 VH1 Storytellers appearance, lightheartedly made the assertion that the sole reason that Manfred Mann's version of the song went to number one is that the altered lyric is actually "revved up like a ######". Bruce said, "The original lyric is 'cut loose like a deuce' referring to a two seat hot-rod, a little deuce coupe. Manfred Mann changed the lyric to 'revved up like a ######.' which is a feminine hygienic procedure."
Also...

Quote:
The mondegreen was further referenced in an episode of VH1's animated show ILL-ustrated, where P. Diddy opts to sample Manfred Mann's version for his new song, and dresses up as a ###### in the video as the sky rains boxes of feminine hygiene products. Upon being informed of the correct line, he no longer wishes to use the song.

From BruceSpringsteen.net

Quote:
And she was blinded by the light
Cut loose like a deuce another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
She got down but she never got tight, but she'll make it alright
I really should have refreshed before I posted.

My friend showed me a couple clips from the South Park episode where they claim that Family Guy episodes are written by manatees. I've haven't viewed Family Guy the same since. Look for them and you'll understand why.

It has to be ######. Usually when you are told the correct lyric, you'll listen to the song again and hear it with the intended words.

I don't care how many times I listen to it... he ain't sayin deuce.

And both my posts today have involved the word ######.

It was always "Laugh and Cry", but the opening in seasons 1 & 2 sure sounded like "F'n". Hence, the network forced them to rerecord the vocals to more clearly sound like "laugh and cry" for season 3.

As for this F-bomb, I can't remember if it was bleeped or not. If it wasn't, I probably wouldn't have noticed.
