I heard that as well. After Silva lost his last two fights, Dana White doesn't want him fighting in the UFC right now anymore. It's too bad becuase that would have had a lot of hype around it but those loses set him back.

Well, it's too bad if that fight doesn't go ahead. Maybe they should send Liddell to take on Cro Cop.

Silva didn't lose his last two fights.. He lost to Arona last year (by lay n pray of course) then he beat Arona in the title fight a few months later, he then beat heavyweight Fujita in the first round of the tournament. Dana White knows better ,Chuck Liddell is not that great of a fighter, and would most likely lose to Silva (always has a chance to knock Silva out of course), it would look bad to have Liddell lose to Silva who just lost to Cro-Cop.. No shame in that of course, Cro-cop would have a field day in the UFC....

I agree with MMF I really dislike Tim Sylvia.. He hasn't got a whole lot of talent, he's just a big guy.. I don't think you can even make a case for him being in the top 6 or 7 in pride. Fedor Emelianenko, Nog, Cro-cop, Aleks Emelianenko, Josh Barnett, Kharitonov, Fujita, Werdum and even guys who aren't heavyweights like Shogun, and Arona would give Sylvia trouble. I don't think Sylvia could beat any of the first 7 guys I listed. He beat Arlovski, but a fluke knee injury in their last fight, kept Arlovski from taking it to the ground or putting much pressure on Sylvia.. Ausserio Silva would have easily taken his fight with Tim Sylvia had he not grabbed the fence to prevent the take dhatown (the UFC really needs to take points away for this). The UFC HW division is pretty weak overall, so hopefully Monson, or Vera can finally beat Sylvia. I'm going to keep my eye on Cheick Kongo, he's looked good in his last few fights... I don't think he is all that special, but as long as someone beats Sylvia soon, and for god sakes take off the goddamn belt when you go out in public..

Turns out that BJ Penn separated his ribs in the second round of his fight. Maybe it wasn't conditioning that slowed him down so much.

I sure hope BJ and his camp aren't planning on using that as an excuse. Fighters get injured all the time in matches, it happens. George St. Pierre beat BJ Penn after getting a brutal thumb in the eye in their fight, could barely see in hte first round but pulled it out.

It sucks that it happened, but I'd be pretty upset if they are trotting it out as an excuse.

Regarding Matt Hughes and the welterweights... the UFC is stacked at 170 right now. It should be interting to see who gets a shot after GSP and Hughes go at it (hopefully) in November. Does Shanchez get a shot, or does he have to go through BJ Penn first? Where is Paryisan in the mix? Sure he lost to Sanchez but he had a title shot before getting injured last year. Then of course the winner of TUF season 4 at 170.

Don't kid yourself, this is all Dana's doing, he's the one pulling the plug on this and he's the one thats scared of the result. Pride wants the fight, Silva wants the fight and Liddel wants the fight.... Dana is the one backpeddling

Please, I don't pretend to know whose fault it is, but to blame it all on one promoter is a joke.

Really? I know Dana calls the shots at UFC... its not beyond belief that he could be blocking the fight.

No, you're right.. and to be honest.. I don't blame him.

His guidance of the UFC is the main reason MMA is booming in North America, after years of trying to get Silva to fight to fight Liddell why should he do it now?

It's perfect time for PrideFC, they are trying to break the North American market, why should Dana white/the UFC give Pride all that free promotion and let them biggyback on their success?

My comments about Dana blocking the fight are in direct response to aa radio interview on the 21st where Jerry Millen (Pride in NA) was a guest and Dana called in... it was roughly 20 minutes of Dana side stepping the fight... there's no doubt who's blocking the fight

I thought this was one of the better PPV's in the past 4-6 months.

That first light weight match was crazy. Total shocker.
Swick's attitude is starting to wear thin, too bad the Crow couldn't knock him the fvck out.

Let's hope UFC puts Swick against Franklin. Rich would knock that punk out.

It doesn't look like they are using it as an excuse at least not to me. Just read the interview.. He's not making excuses, really.

Obviously it will be GSP and Hughes in the near future, then I think Penn gets another shot as he took this shot on short notice.... I hate Diego, so hopefully he starts losing...Maybe to Penn?

Honestly in the WW division, I think Spencer Fisher, and Melvin Guillard are are on the way up to be contenders.... Doesn't really matter though, going to be tough to get through the three top fighters..

Guillard fought at 155 Saturday Wes, that his is weight now, I beleive Fisher is fighting at 155 now as well. His last fight (flying knee KO vs Wiman) was at 155.

UFC's 155 is amazing..

For those wondering here is a translated interview with the President of Pride,Nobuyuki Sakakibara, in it he discusses the Silva Liddell fight and Dana White... Thought some may be interested.

Despite the fact he has the vocabulary of a 10 year old, he thanks god way too much, and channels the power of lightning before some fights I've really come along on Sanchez, the guy is good. His match with Paryisan was just a joy to watch, and I thought Karo was going to work him. I think he gets a title shot within the next 12 months. GSP, then maybe BJ Penn gets a match again, the TUf winner.. then Diego if he is still doing well.
