I could see myself in Vancouver. Although, most places in BC are nice. I like big cities, but a smaller place like Penticton might be fun. Halifax might be nice too.
If I were to leave the country, Australia would be the first place I would consider.

Yeah Pai! lol....
Sappong (It is called something completely different in Thai?) is more like Pai used to be though, Pai is so overrun now. Still one of the nicest places in Thailand but the cat is definitely out of the bag...
That is why i said Luang Prabang. A similiar tranqulity but better French cooking and a feeling that 'more tourists' does not equal 'selling out' - i guess just more a feeling of roots in the past...

I kinda like life in Ottawa Right now actually... one of the quieter, nicer cities in Canada IMO... though I see it as a calgary in the making... the market will boom within the next 10 and therefore population will boom...
I'd definitely go live in like Melbourne or Adelaide Australia though... maybe Queensland

I'm looking to relocate to my hometown of Kamloops right now. I have a job where I can work anywhere I like for the most part. So basically it's a matter of finding a decent job for my wife there and than we'll be picking up and leaving. I just like the weather and the location of the city even if it does have a freaking pulp mill, plus it's pretty much home to me.
But my ideal retirement place would be Perth Australia. Lovely weather and a gorgeous city. Who wouldn't like the idea of waking up every day and going for a swim in the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean.

Yah, as soon as Pai got written up in the Lonely Planet Guide to Thailand the tourists come in droves. When I was walking on some of the footpathes on the outskirts I felt like I was the only one there, a serenity which is quickly shattered as soon as you get back to the guest houses.
I love pretty much everywhere in Thailand though (esp. in the North). I've never made the trip to Lao, but I have heard only good things so it's definitely on my list.

Wisconsin. Preferably Madison or Green Bay. I dont know why, I am very taken with the area, the lakes, the people, the forests. I am hoping to get a work Visa in a few years if possible and spend some time down there.

You know, it's kind of funny..some of you said you would rather live in the Bay Area or San Francisco CA to get out of Calgary becoming so expensive and turning so large. SF rocks, BUT it is the most expensive area other than NY in terms of real estate. You cant find a one bedroom for cheaper than 1400 rent, and you cant buy a condo for less than 500,000 and a house for cheaper than about 750,000. IT BLOWS. It's a little better where I am in San Jose. And salaries are NOT proportionate. I dont even know why im here. If I wasnt married to my American husband, Id go back to somewhere in Canada or go elsewhere in the USA.

Call me nuts, but I like the small town feel of a Saskatoon or Regina. I dont know if I could adjust to those winters though. Of course Kelowna, Vernon or Penticton would be nice. I also really like Victoria.

Well London is the best place if you are really rich. But guessing you are not then don't move here. It is too expensive and its dirty and overcrowded. But we have the best clubs, best fashion, great culture and we love a party. If London is not on your list then you will definately not want to live anywhere else in Britain.
France is a big no-no especially Paris - its horrible.
Italy is a lot poorer than you probably think, very run down but some of the larger cities are cool like Milan. But who knows Italian unless you are of that heritage?
Australia is awesome, i mean truly great. Manly beach in Sydney is my kinda place. Spent 3 months there in 2001 and woke up to gorgeous sunshine, went surfing, eat fresh seafood on the beach, surfed, went out and get hammered with the locals. Now you would get on better over there as you are not a Pommie.
Japan is crazy, totally different to anything you know but the people are so friendly. South Korea is the same too.
One place i could definately live is Dubai. Tax free, jobs in every sector, great pay, great perks, fantastic nightlife, cleanest city i have ever visited and great shopping too. Dirt cheap for groceries too. Cigarettes cost about 20 cents a pack! The only problem is the heat. 52*C in the summer can really get to you when you have to work and everyone around is a tourist and swimming in the pool.
Oh and Saskatoon. Great place.
I am moving to Vancouver next so that really has to be my number one choice. It was voted the number one place to live in the world in a list i saw a few months ago.
Magic.

Water. Somewhere close to water. It's the suckiest thing about Calgary/Alberta and no I don't think Slyvan Lake is water -- I want some heat with my water.
B.C of course (Interior/Victoria) where zillions of Albertans go for vacation/retirement every year.
Singapore -- it's a facinating place which is always warm, clean and with tons to do.
Hong Kong -- a city I just love. Man so much to do and a fascinating mix of cultures like Singapore.
