if this city keeps up it's current pace, it won't be too long until we start creeping near Vancouver's population. hell give it another 40 years and Calgary could very well be the 2nd largest city in the country

The city of Calgary is already larger than the city of Vancouver, but has a long way to go to catch Montreal (1.5 million).
It will take quite a while for Metro Calgary to top Metro Vancouver though. We're still nearly 1 million people behind, though the metro will almost certantly take a small jump when the census data is released, as Okotoks and the MD of Foothills will likely be included beginning this census.

Calgary has a few things going for it in that it has room to expand, not to many city's within spitting distance, compare that to TO, Vancouver, and even Edmonton, Cochrane, Airdire, Okotoks arent even close compared to Sherwood Park, Fort Sask etc.

My guess is it was taken from St. George's Heights.
I came to Calgary in 76 and worked on some of the downtown buildings, shopping malls, bridges, hospitals, etc. during that boom. I feel a little pride seeing Calgary's growth.

According to Skyscraperpage.com, the Tower is still the 6th highest building in Calgary right now. Can't see it from the North largely because of Canterra Tower, PetroCan Centre and Scotia Centre
