My wife and I do the same thing driving home from Flames games. I hate the people who try to sneak in. Wait like the rest of us, losers. And it really is fun blocking other jerks from cutting in.

Sorry to say, but I'm one of those jerks. And I can't remember the last time I wasn't able to find a sucker to let me in.

I've come to the conclusion that the reason traffic flows so slowly in the city is because no one know where they're going. They just moved from flatland Sasky, and have never seen more than 4 street lights in a row, and are easily confused by "billboards" and "pedestrians".

Fin saskies.....good for nothing prarie newfies. THE LOT A YA!!!

Anyone else travel Glenmore right now? What a nightmare that is. 3 lanes that go to 2, then to 3, then back to 2. Loads of opportunity to pull the a**hole (driving to the front of a merge lane and cutting in) but in no way shape or form will I let you in front of me. I'd rather hit you than let someone short cut in front of the other patient motorists.

If you see someone in a lifted red Tundra swearing and fingering people trying to merge, you've just witnessed Tron on his daily commute.

That may sound silly but it is a good point. Rivers have been the most efficient and essential avenues of transportion for people in history.

It's big waste not to have any boats floating down it

Someone nearly rear ended me yesterday in the yield lane from sb Crowchild to eb 16 Ave NW. I don't think he knew what a yield sign was, as he also decided to honk at me for yielding to a giant truck.

When I used to drive to work, I'd see people go from Beddington Blvd onto Beddington Trail, they'd get onto Deerfoot, and then they'd get off onto 64 Ave.

Deerfoot in the south (barlow, anderson, bow bottom) has really improved in the last 2 or 3 years. I drive through that every morning, and if there are no accidents it is smooth sailing.

What I was taught is that it is illegal to pass on the right. So if you're not passing, move over to the right lane.

Really? So if I'm driving on Deerfoot, and there's some slow guy in the left lane I have to match his speed? I can't go into the middle lane and pass him? I'd like to see something on that, because I don't believe it.

The idea is there won't/shouldn't be slow moving vehicles in the left lane. 'Slow moving traffic keep to the right'.

I understand the idea behind it, but I keep hearing this is a traffic law, as in a cop will pull me over if I pass a vehicle on the right. I've never heard of this.

Its not illegal, its just really stupid ON THE HIGHWAY.

In the city that rule is useless, as all lanes are meant to carry at capacity. On the highway, the idea is that the left lane is only to allow people to pass, and not a driving lane. Sadly most people can't figure this out. Its dangerous to pass on the right beacause the person in front of you in the left lane should be going right as soon as they see you approaching from behind. If you both decide to go right at the same time....

If someone refuses to leave the left lane I'll usually flash the brights a couple times incase they just weren't paying attention behind them. If they really don't get the picture I'll give up and pass on the right carefully.

My experience is that rarely works. All it seems to do is annoy the person in front; at which point they seem to do whatever they can to prevent you from passing. It becomes a matter of them thinking "Well, the speed limit is 110, I'm doing 111, so theoretically nobody should be going faster than me. I'm going to do my part to enforce the law. Yay me!"

Myself; even though my typical highway speed is 10 over the limit, I still pull over to let somebody faster go by; even if that means I spend 30 seconds having to do 5 under in the slow lane.

I once got tailgated in the right lane going back from Banff. That sure was weird.

Thats pretty polite. If the person in front of me is going slower than I am in the left lane, but still passing traffic on the right, it doesn't really bother me to slow down for a bit. Just as long as they move over once we pass the pack.
