That'd be '92. I was working as a wedding photographer at the time, and for the nuptuals I shot on August 22, we had to go indoors to my studio. I believe the snow started on Friday, the 21st, because I went to the BC-Stamps (?) football game that night amid a snowstorm.

Strangely, the snow lasted a while, or perhaps it snowed again, because there was snow on the ground for the Labour Day Classic that same year.

Wow, I can't believe it was that long ago. But Im sure we are talking about the same year. My family and I were driving back from Vancouver the day/night of the 24th and it snowed in the mountains all the way back into town. Crazy stuff.

It snowed briefly in August one day last year in the northern parts of the city.

Now that summer is officially over, i wish it would snow! But the problem is i live in London, England and we get about 2 hours of snow a year and it never settles. We had a great July over here, it was really hot, then August was a wash out of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Just when everyone was getting redy for Autumn, September has turned out to be pretty great, over 25*C everyday. I cannot believe that it is that cold in Alberta already. Summer only ended a few weeks ago and it is below zero for you guys, crazy!

But i guess you guys are used to the winter season coming in with all the snow, having to change your tyres on your cars and all that stuff. Over here if we get some snow, they close the trains and roads for safety reasons, everyone complains about this crazy weather! and no one goes to work because they were "snowed in" under a whole 2cm of snow! Schools close so all the kids go outside to snowfight which really means scrape black snow off cars until they get bored and get drunk instead.

The first time i was in Calgary, i left the airport and there was about 2 foot of snow and i was so excited, my girlfriend was looking at me like i was crazy, but to me anything more than half an inch a day is a blizzard!

Hopefully i will be in Calgary/Vancouver/Saskatoon for Christmas so i can enjoy the snow again. Last time i was there Calgary made it to the final, i left the day before game seven and we lost, maybe i was their lucky charm, haha.

Enjoy the weather folks, i will enjoy the rain and wind we get for 9 months of the year here.

Magic

I'm pretty sure that June is the only month with no recorded snowfall in the city of Calgary.

I remember it snowing during the Stampede in 1996, and as others have said, it snowed in August of 1992.

From October to April it's not even rare. It snows in September every few years - Friday's wasn't even enough to stick on the ground. We had a lot more in September 2003.

And of course - if it snows in May, the Flames go all the way.

I'm pretty sure it's snowed in June here. Any meteorologists around?

The bike commute was a tad frosty today. -1C, gets the blood moving early.

Agreed. I don't have specific recollections, but I'm positive as well that we've seen snow in June.

I'm positve I've seen snow every month of the year in Calgary. I think one year in June we still had snow on the ground from the last winter. That was depressing but on the other hand a few years ago it was plus 20 on Christmas day.

It snowed in August in 2002 as well. I remember one of the Cannons final games was cancelled due to show.

In Meteorology, its September first but you are right mate.

In Britain summer officially ends the day after we get our 'heatwave' which was about 5pm on July 16th this year :P
We might as well just have a year of autumn over here, it blows - literally.
