I saw the plane too. It was indeed a CF-18. Apparently there are five of them in town at the moment on various maneuvers.
Slightly off topic: I attended the Abbotsford Air Show this summer for the first time and have to say it was unbelievably amazing. We had front row runway seating, and there's nothing quite like seeing CF-18's, and American F-15's, F-16's, F-117's, and B-1B's doing high speed, low level knife-edge passes a hundred feet in front of you. The Snowbirds were really good too.
It was quite inexpensive too: $25 general admission, and an extra $10 for the runway seating upgrade. Not bad for 7+ hours of entertainment between the static displays and air demonstrations.
