Is this game worth pickup up a 360 for? I mean, I eventually plan to get one anyways (maybe in the new year)..so is it worth getting one now just so I can play this game?

The actual game gamera angles are essentially the same as prior versions. It's not that close in.
|
Essentially the same? Wha? In the 07 demo you cannot get a wide shot, in 06 you can zoom back to see half of the rink like a broadcast view.
Igottago, I bought my 360 for the sole purpose of playing EA07, plus I have a HDTV. I barely even play other games, I wanted to play 07 on the new system. I guess you'll have to play on the XBOX and the 360 to make up your mind but I think the game looks incredible in HD.

I just realized that Calgary Flames said "actual game" camera angles. I thought he was saying that the demo angles were the same as last year.
And I totally forgot about all the preview vids that we've seen. Nice to see that we'll have views of the ice that are higher than the demo and just like 06.

I'm stoked about this game. I hope Eb games gets it a day early. Either way it's Wednesday or Thursday. Not that far off.
I'm still scoring different goals.

Anybody else try the 2K7 demo that was released this morning? While I didnt think it was bad I didnt enjoy it as much as the 2007 demo even though it's a shootout demo. I'll probably rent it if the video store here actually decides to upgrade their 10 or so 360 game selection and get it but I wont be buying it on launch like NHL 07.

Wow, I must say I really like the control scheme after getting used to it. The old one was becoming too complicated for my tastes.
Mind you it's really easy to cheese the shootout, just curl back after getting close to the goalie and he'll go down, then put it top shelf.
One to buy I think.

Spent a few more hours with the demo today and I am so f'ing impressed. Whole new game when you get used to it.
The graphics are unreal, the stitching on the jerseys, the texture of the ice, the crowd, all incredible. Just go back and throw on 06 and check out the difference.
The controls are a huge improvement, if you're going to try and simulate shooting a puck and deking with a video game controller, then this is the best way to do it.
Only a couple more days.

Hopefully it's available the 13th. EA put the 14th so it'll 100% in stores by then.

It isn't surprising that if it occured it was missed but yes indeed it shouldn't have counted. Some calls get made in real life others do not. Refs make mistakes...especially in game winning goals. Ask the Sabres.
Rule 30: Penalty Shots
The Referee shall ask to have announced over the public address system the name of the player designated by him or selected by the Team entitled to take the shot (as appropriate). He shall then place the puck on the center face-off spot and the player taking the shot will, on the instruction of the Referee, play the puck from there and shall attempt to score on the goalkeeper. The puck must be kept in motion towards the opponent's goal line and once it is shot, the play shall be considered complete. No goal can be scored on a rebound of any kind (an exception being the puck off the goal post, then the goalkeeper and then directly into the goal), and any time the puck crosses the goal line, the shot shall be considered complete.

all looks legal to me. i think its still moving forward - just very slowly. of course this is pretty hard to tell watching the video again and again, no way in hell its gonna be caught and called properly live.

I think the NHL 2K7 demo absolutely destroyed the NHL 07 demo... I mean, all you show of your game is the shootout? That's pathetic.
The NHL 2K7 demo showed it's improved camera angle, graphics, new skating engine, and improved overall gameplay.
The NHL 07 demo showed graphics and a control scheme that may or may not work well in the actual game.

Couldn't disagree with you more. I've bought both releases in the past and have no allegiance to either, EA just looks better and it more fun to play. The intro and menu screens alone blow 2K out of the water and craps on them from a great height. So if you're talking about pure asthetics then EA wins in that department hands down. You can argue the skating engine or controls all you want, but spend some time with NHL07 and you'll be impressed. The new controls with the deking on the the right stick along with the shooting is very natural feeling and after an hour you'll start wondering how we just banged on buttons before.
The NHL 2K6 demo is alright, the gameplay is fine but I just can't get into the creepy opening scenes, it's like you're watching a bizarre cartoon. I can't see myself buying another 2K hockey release ever again.

Your game? It's EASport's game, and the idea of the shootout was to get the new controls into players hands. It's just a demo, I don't mind the shootout.
