Why even bother with the legal discourse and all that jazz. You've been working in O&G for 15 years, you say. So walk up to your competitor's front door, and get another job. Right now it really is that easy. Do you really want to go back to this place after legal battles and whatnot? Or are you just looking for an easy lump of cash?

Yep as Jiri says....unfortunately unbeknownst to MOST contract-ors there are "outs" written into the vast majority of contracts that let companies dump people at their whim. Once you sign it it is assumed you have read it and understood it.
