If not, then I'd say let em be. Besides, first you said you don't want them to be fed carrots, but on the other hand, you don't want them chewing on other stuff now that the carrots have stopped. Take your pick, cause they won't leave.
There was one year where they didn't come back. That year there was an abnormal amount of stray cats in the neighbourhood. But the only thing they ever did was eat our grass in the shade. We let them be, they let us be.
Stop messing with wildlife you say? You bet, once I stop living in homes.

I live near the coulees myself. Not only do we get rabbits, but we also get deer on our front yard. Even had a very large garter snake in my yard and a skunk.
I heard a noise on the step once, and I thought it was a cat going through the garbage bag. I had put the garbage bag out about an hour before and I figured I'd put it out to the curb in the morning before I go to work. I opened the door to investigate the noise and it was a skunk ripping a hole in the garbage bag... and its derrier was pointed right at me. As I began to shut the door I could see the skunk turning its head to see me. I'm glad the city initiated the automated garbage retrieval program. Now I got a bin to store the garbage in and the cats, skunks and other critters can't get into it and make a mess.
