What about little kids who watch this? When they make teams at school and everyone is divided into enthnic groups. I am 100% against this idea and any idea where people are divided on race.

Won't somebody please think of the children!

TV doesn't always have to be about teaching life lessons. To me this is a non issue. They have to find new ways to divide the teams and this is one such way. They are certainly not saying one team is better than the other. Its just a new set up for the game.

I still think they should take 16 people who speak different languages and stick them on the island. Might make for a quiet hour of TV, but it would be interesting to see how they'd make ends meet.

Whatever Jiri. This move is nothing but ignorance by Hollywood. Racial segregating is a big problem. It leads to people being left out, encourages sterotypes, and makes division among races. I don't care if its too pick teams on a fake reality tv show or having an whites only water fountain. It's all ignorant and wrong to segregate based on race or enthnicity.

I would LOVE to see a Survivor up in Nunavut circa December to January type thing.

Now THAT would be survivor. Arctic. They have it so easy right now! Just bugs and heat. Mix it up a little!!

They are dividing teams for a reality show, they are not saying one team is better than the other or that one team will have special privelages that others won't.

Heh, well, I think you are making wayyyyy too much of it. I think you could have a case if the producers made a rule like 'No black people'. Or maybe the Black Tribe has to go to Tribal twice just because they are black. But, of course, they arent. The number of non-whites on this Survivor will be the highest so far. Doesnt sound very racist to me.

Except isn't one of the driving ideas in Survivor to use contests to determine which team is better and them award them special privilages at the expense of the other teams?

But personally I think this could be really valuable from a sociological standpoint, I mean who would've thought that the Asian team could eat more bugs than the Honkeys? Should make for both riviting TV and some groundbreaking insight into how skin color really does make us different.

Oh, and if we can't do religion next, can it be slobs vs snobs? I'm sick of only seeing this scenario played out in college/pg13 movies.

I take it very seriously as well. But I don't take so-called "reality" Television seriously at all.

Why are you getting so worked up about this?

It would be a problem (and yes, j pold, a reflection on society) if they labelled the teams The Best, Idiots, Losers, and The Worst and THEN divided them up into racially segregated groups. How is this any different than when they divided teams up based on sex? When they chose the oldest people to be team captains?
