Easy fix if you have a shop vac.

Put an inch or two of water in the bottom along with some dish soap.

Re-assemble shop vac.

Put extension tubes (if available) on end of hose.

Turn on shop vac.

Move sucking end of hose/nozzle towards hole in wasp nest (this will take care of any that take flight).

Continue advancing hose/nozzle towards the wasps nest until the entire nest has been sucked into shop vac.

Turn off shop vac and listen to see if you hear any buzzing (you shouldn't as the wasp's should all drown in the soapy water in the bottom of the vac).

Dispose of contents of the shop vac.

....call Dion.

We've had a wasp problem in our yard this year, like everyone else. We bought a trap and filled it with juice & dish soap, and about 12 of the little *******s drowned within the first half hour. They love juice.

Love the shopvac idea firebug.

I still don't know why fire isn't an option with a concrete step.

Fire- good!
Wasps- Bad!

I skipped right to reply so this suggestion may have already been said.

At my cabin a few years ago there were quite a few wasps we found a solution that seemed to work.

We blew up and tied shut a brown paper bag by the house and this seemed to work. It sort of looks like a nest. (We got this from another source, not from our own minds.)

The idea behind this is that when the (real) wasps see the fake wasps nest they leave the area alone. (territory) The nest wasnt in the cabins imediate area and so I dont know what will happen with another existing nest in the area. Its worth a try.

Good luck getting rid O the problem.
