On my team, with its "No one over 30" policy, I had to trade Donovan. So what I did was package him with Peter Sejna for Alexander Frolov and a 3rd rounder from TB (who I had previously traded Frolov to with a 2nd rounder for Brad Richards). I then traded the third rounder to Detroit for Niklas Kronwall. So what the trade ended up amounting to was

Brad Richards and Niklas Kronwall for Sean Donovan, Peter Sejna (neither of whom were getting playing time) and 2 picks

the secret here is not to care about your draft picks for the first year or two until you get a real strong core of proven young players. the average rating on my team is around 86 i'd guess, not one player is over 27

Why would you have to trade 29 year old Shean Donovan then?

I bought NHL 2005 for PC, but it doesnt work too well on my computer. It is slower than Chris Simon. My computer has all the requirements, the only thing I can think is that the video card we have is not good enough. It is 5 years old and we have never gotten a new one. Does anybody know what the problem might be?

You might have just answered your own question. Although if you're system is only fast enough to meet the minimum requirements that might also be it. We probably need to know more about your computer to really know for sure.

You might want to try turning the graphics options down to see if that improves things for you(if they still have those capabilities, don't know since I haven't bought it yet).

You have to scroll through the menu's. for instance, switch to defenseman, forwards, goalies, then draft picks.

Odds are if your pc just meets the min requirements, then you'll have to play the game with min graphic settings. Put the graphics sliders to their min and lower the resolution and I bet ya it will almost be playable.

For a while companies would put on recommended along with the min. I wish they still did that.

I essentially traded a 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, Chris Clark, and Anders Eriksson in exchange for Jay bouwmeester and Nikolai Zherdev.

Clark was just excess baggage, and Eriksson was my 6th d-man. I figured I would trade away my good draft picks while my scouting department was still low budget. I probably wouldnt have landed a good pick anyways.

Wait until Bouwmeester wants 5.5 mil a year and won't take anything less than 5. That greedy bas**rd. Had to let him go...

I agree with trading your picks early in your dynasty. I have 4 stars on my scouting and I can finally now make a decent guess on who's going to be good. Until then, it's luck of the draw and the pick can be more useful in a trade.

That's odd... cause I'm in my 4th season, he's my regular starter, we have won 2 cups, and his salary has actually gone down. He's now at 3.5 mil I think.

Really? He wanted 10 mil from me too, I offered 5. He has 0 years left on the contract, and I'm in my first year. How did you get him to your 4th season without signing him after 1?

Question about negotiating contracts on the game:

There are the two sliders, right, one that says 'salary' and the other 'years wanted.' When you set salary to 10 million, and years to 2, is your player getting 10 million a year for two years, or 10 million over two years?
