No I'd never use it. It would just be to get in on the first day when all the deals are on instead of the hourly specials.

Well, I called Soundsaround and they tell me the sale is not going to be held at the Big 4 this year because they doubled the rent. So the sale will take place at each of the stores. It will be Saturday only and there will be no special deals for cardholders on the Friday. The sale is on Sept 9

I was at Soundsaround the other day and was basically told that the prices on the merchandise they currently have in store will not change. The only extra deals they have will be on a few items they bring in.

If i was still a commission saleperson looking at how much my August 31st cheque will be; I'd be tempted to tell you the same thing as well.

I'm not saying that he may not be correct, but just not to believe everything a stranger who makes money on you buying something says.

And yes, you could come back in 2 weeks and buy from him. Good salespeople don't take the risk you'll buy from somebody else though and try to close the deal now.

Any updates on this? I've heard rumours too that it WON"T be held at the Big 4 again this year, and it'll be more like a Boxing Day sale with markdowns at the stores themselves.

Soundsaround isn't @ the Big 4, but the reason is that they couldn't staff the event, even if they would have kept their regular locations closed for the two days of the sale. Soundsaround basically gave up the space, and Laptop Depot will be doing something this weekend in the Big 4 from what I have heard.

So, as per the original post in this thread, does anyone know if the other electronics dealers are having sales on that day as well?

The reason I ask is that I just happen to be in the market for some home theatre components and I'm coming down to Calgary on the 8th of September specifically for the purpose of going to the sales on the 9th...well, that and to visit with the folks.

Yes, SoundSaround will NOT be held at Big 4 this year, instead just at their own stores as already mentioned.

HOWEVER, Laptop DEPOT will be taking hold of the entire Big 4 and having their sale there.

FutureShop/BestBuy, CompuSmart, etc are all having sales this weekend Fri, Sat, Sun versus the Visions/Soundsarround/LaptopDepot sale ONLY on saturday.

Has anyone been down to Soundaround / FS / Visions today? I'm wondering if the Shaw guys are there in a booth or something. I've had success at these sales in getting them to give me the new subscriber credits on a Digital terminal even though I'm not.

No ads in today's Herald. Odd.
