Indeed.
The problem is, if he had done that more often, the Stamps could be 8-1 or 7-2 instead of 5-4.
None-the-less, Burris was very good last night.

That was easily the best game of the year in the CFL.
There have been alot of NFL style brutal games but this one was easily the best. Great drama, great plays, and the CBC decided to show a great Calgary Montreal game instead of a laughable Toronto Hamilton game.

His receivers don't get a free ride either...if they didn't have the dropsies when Burris did make a good play, the record could be better as well. I'm hopeful that they stay confident and have that swagger after the bye-week & continue winning, but I'm more concerned that they are hot at week 18 going into the playoffs. Since 6 of 8 teams make the playoffs, one's record at week 9 doesn't really matter in the CFL.

You're totally right - Burris was almost sacked when he threw that ball. But he didn't 'throw it away' - by that I meant making a bad throw. That throw was right on the money - right in Rambo's face. He just dropped it, plain and simple.
I thought that throw, although in desperation, wasn't a poor play - unlike some of Hank's previous decisions in other games.

This game confirmed that that Calgary can pretty much be in a position to beat any team, on any given night, if eveything clicks.
Even after an average first half, including penalties, dropped balls, and poor tackling, they were a touchdown out of it against the premier team in the league.
Then, the big player making the big plays down the stretch like they are supposed to.
Hopefully this gives them the right boost in confidence, but not getting too high.
With that being said, the Stamps have to start preparing this second half of the year for late September and October football....start practicing (at least Renyolds) in a meat locker so that when the mercury starts to dip, this teams big player are still capable of making the big plays and not dropping/fumbling the game away ala 2005.

Come on Man!
He was about to get sacked and he threw it side armed as he was falling right to him. It looked like he was throwing it away but Rambo was right there?!? Hmmmm, I think Burris knows where his receivers are going. Thats why they practice like crazy learning routes and everything for a week!
The problem is Rambo is flippin fast, but can be questionable if he will catch it or not! He only got about three balls thrown his way! And that ball was catchable! Where as Copeland and Lewis continue to make absolutely AMAZING catches to bail their QB out and also cause he delivers it right there, right now! Rambo is not a clutch receiver and that play proved it!
Burris can not be hung out to dry on that play for giving his team a chance. Rambo, on the other hand, needs to buy and use the same glue that Lewis has!

Beside the above...
What a game that was last night! A little chilly near the end but who really noticed when the little Spicy Italian kicks two field goals from 50 yards out to warm the crowd right up!
My question is why did our return guy run backwards when Montreal punted to us near the end??? I was in section A... way over at the wrong end of the field to realy see, but from what I could see he had tons of daylight in front of him yet he ran towards Montreals endzone???
Sure made you sit on the edge of the seat! - actually I forgot I had a seat with 2 minutes left!
Finally a good game to put in the books for the CFL with a tight, drama filled ending!

Where Lewis and Cope not unbelievable last night???
Neither dropped any ball, Lewis only missed one because it got tipped on him... but the dude has unbelievable hands! The catches he makes with a guy raping him from behind and still getting more yards! Wow! I was impressed!
And Copelands touchdown catch was really sweet! Especially because it was right in front of my section! I have no idea how Montreals defence covering him didn't catch that one themselves... either way it was sure nice!
The defence sure made you frustrateed on a couple bombs near the end, but then our guy causes the third fumble of the game and punches it out!! Talk about emotions! All we could see from my seat was they caught the ball... *insert choice words*, then "what happened to the ref??? he looked like superman flying off the field" and then all of a sudden we find out our guy caused a fumble after getting burned!
I guess all I can say is we definetly got our moneys worth that game, at least in the second half!
Go Stamps Go!!!

Yeah, it was a great game, and more than anything I was glad to see the super-annoying Esks-fan lady in our section get her comeupance. Avoiding turnovers against Montreal is huge, but the worst thing about the Stamps last night was stupid penalties, ones away from the play that took back significant gains. One thing I noticed about Montreal is how nobody dropped an easy pass all night; Cavillo had some bad passes, but if the pass was on target, the receivers came down with it every time. I'm no fan of Hank, and there were a few things he did last night that infuriated me (in particular, on the game-tying drive: after getting it into Sandro's range, he threw one pass that could have been picked off if the defender had another step on the ball, and then he took a ten yard sack that made the kick far less of a sure thing), but it really was one of the better games he's played this year. Great decision-making about when to take off and run. And my favorite play was the bootleg shovel-pass to Howell (I think); QBs like Allen and Ray make a killing with little misdirection passes like that, and I would love to see more of it in the Calgary playbook.
