Yep, definately unfair... its not like Isreal doesn't have a permanent member on the security council looking out for its interests.

Agreed but what are America's motives? Israel doesn't provide them oil and are actually a drain economically. Also, friendship with Israel is disastrous to America politically.
America until a month or so ago had more Jews than Israel. I think that that has a bit to do with America's concern for them. Also Israel is the only democracy in the region. Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan may become ones but, that isn't by any means certain yet. A third reason is that if it wasn't for America Israel would have been destroyed a long time ago. I think a majority of Americans would feel it was wrong to allow that to happen to a friend.

UN is a joke. They are totally ineffectual, and repeatedly biased and impartial against Israel. The force that will be deployed (I wonder how long it will take to round up), will also be a joke, and probably will turn a blind eye to Hezbollah activities in Southern Lebanon. It remains to be seen how well this umpteenth resolution regarding this mess works.

That's bull****. Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iran are all democracies. The results of their votes may not appeal to your sensibilites, but they are still countries that use the democratic process.

Unbelievable.

Yes, I agree. I can't believe Israel agreed to this either.

Functioning Democracies? Jordan has a king and it's not just ceremonial... Egypt has a virtual dictator... Turkey is trying desperately to join the EU, but the supreme court is controlled by Sharia law... Lebanon can't even asert it's own influence WITHIN it's own borders. So you tell ME which country is a functional democracy in that region!

I can.
Israel has been beat. Not defeated mind you....
Hezbollah suckered them into a fight they were obviously ill-prepared for and they have had 4-5 years to prepare for.
If Hezbollah lives up to the agreement they will be somewhat neutered and away from the Isreal border.
If Hezbollah does not live up to the agreement the Isrealis will have shown the world that Hezbollah is never giving up the fight (as if that should be necessary) and will be able to destroy them...likely at a terrible but necessary cost.
BTW: Why hasn't any newsnetwork asked about the 2 kidnapped soldiers? Is it a foregone conclusion they are dead?

Had an idea!

Update: The cease fire has been approved 24-0 by Israeli Cabinet, plus the Lebanese government, but it seems that the Hezbollah leader doesn't agree with it.

Oh really? wow. Why can't you just say how you really feel?
You think the tactics of a death-cult, illegal terrorist group are the same as Israel. Come on, tell us why you feel that way! What are you hiding from? Don't be a coward.

Dude, save yourself the anguish. Put the jerk on your ignore list and move along. Since I bounced him I haven't had to even see his ######ed comments. Really, why argue with a guy that is obviously in high school and his world view is that of his mother's apron strings? All you're going to do is continue to frustrate yourself. He brings nothing to support his point. Use the IGNORE list, Luke! Use the IGNORE list!!!
