However on a more serious note
do the tourist thing in your hometown, see the sites that you pass by everyday (I dunno what those are I've only been to Calgary on two very short stints - but I do recall going to a park indoors on one of the upper floors of a building downtown, and I went to the Calgary Tower, went to explore COP).
Lately some friends and I have been doing the hiking, beach adventuring thing around Cape Breton Island, you could do the same around Calgary/Rockies. It's great fun, good exercise, and you can take some amazing photos:
