I'm the complete opposite since I grew up wanting to simply drive balls instead of playing golf. I still suck but I can only hit drivers and couldn't hit a good short iron shot for the life of me.

I love watching the young kids(14-19) at the range boomin it out there with the drive then you watch them try and hit a 9 iron and shank everyone, makes me smile and laugh. Unless your a long drive champ its better to be acurret then long, remember Drive for show, putt for dough.
Back to the thread, with ebay golf companies as long as they ship UPS you'll come out ahead. I've bought clubs for friends and family off ebay and the worst I have been charged for import duties was 20 dollars on a set of irons.

Hey everyone, I want to get into golf. I have never actually had enough money saved aside for a set. But anyways, now I have started saving and have 100 bucks aside (not much to you guys but I only work p/t and have to pay bills/ have school work to finish)
Anyways, what set is a decent starter set? Or do you guys think its a better idea to save up a bit more and get good mid range set type deal?
Cause I know with snowboarding, I bought some decent entry level stuff but as you get better, you'd want to upgrade cause it will help you carve better, better quality, ect.
The first time I actually hit a golf ball was when I goto the driving range w/ my uncle about 6 years back, i was only 15, but when I got to hit the golf ball it was so fun. I loved it. My uncles neighbour was an avid golfer, he owned 3 golf shops in the small town in Ontario. He took me once to a golf course and taught me basic fundamentals of how to play and let me play a few holes with him before I get exhausted and tired from walking haha.
But I'm older now and would like to get into it.
I'd love to be playing ice hockey but I cannot skate properly, so I think I'll take up golf! haha.
anyways, i'll answer lanny's q.
I'm aiming to practice for a bit more (posture, backswing, aim, ect) at a driving range till most likley end of this golf season/begining of next golf, thats when I will most likely play 3-4 times a month. get out there every sunday or so.
handicap? whats that.. haha. Last time I went to the driving range, my balls tend to slice, say out of 10 shots 6 slices, 3 straights and 1 hook. I want to improve my overall game (as said before, noobie here) spending, I don't want to spend TOO much, maybe 4-5 hundred max? (is that alot for a newbie set?)

Do be careful about clubs on Ebay. The Chinese-counterfit market is alive and well and you can buy up identical looking clubs there - with tags, wrappings, etc, so cheap and sell them here and no one would know.
Obviously there are good sellers in the market, but if it sounds too good to be true - it is!

Great Big Bertha II from Callaway Preowned. Get 10 or 11 degrees of loft with a regular shaft (unless you have been specifically fitted).

Some decent deals on irons etc here as well.

^^^^^ They're decent. If the price is right and you like them, go for it. I made my recommendations earlier, but if you like the Jazz, go for it.
