The death penalty is a whole other story. I'm talking about giving an equitable sentence for a small crime. I'm with most people that Canada has lax punishments for violent crimes and child molestation but that's no reason to lock up petty criminals for life. Perhaps some of you would be more comfortable living under Sharia.

California has 206 prisoners per 100 000 people. So, you're way off.
You didn't seem to be talking about rare exceptions, you wanted everybody under the three strikes law, locked up for life.

Oh boy... I never said that at all. The point I was making is that they case you brought up. That is, people getting locked up for petty crimes is extremely rare. Besides there are ways of legislating it so people who commit petty crimes are exempt. Although I believe you should still have a 3 Strikes approach when dealing with them too. Maybe just not such a tough sentence. Say 5 years instead of life.

Sure you did.

You said "Simple. Just don't shoplift" in my statement that I didn't think sending away shoplifters for life was a good idea.

They'd still have their hands and feet so they could still kidnap and as much as the thought sickens me and sends chills down my spine, they could perform oral acts. Even castration wouldn't stop a sicko like this.

I think it would be more appropriate to grab a sledge hammer, put his hands on a concrete pad and bash them to a point of obliteration.

Since the justice system in our country can't take care of degenerate lowlifes like this one, I guess all we can hope for is that some current inmate can do it for them ala Jeffrey Dahmer.

From what I understand, even if you castrate them, they still have the same programming running in their minds. It may help but often they will still want to go through the same acts even if they can't finish.

I guess I should have said then, don't just crush their hands with the sledge, crush their skulls, too.

Just put them in jail with no chance of parole, EVER! I just do not understand the theory behind letting them out on the chance that they won't reoffend. For the sake of children ever, is it worth the risk? I say no.

Hey Fellows,
Just got back from Kipling, Sask where they found this guy, he finally surrendered around 11:30 last night.

More good news is that Vic Toews is pushing for it to become easier to call guys like him "dangerous offenders" (like we didn't know he was already) and that means he could get an unfixed sentence (long IMO).

Apparently, both kids he was with were fine, and as of now theres no reports of him doing anything sexual to them (thank god), however that could change. He's in court later today.

Good to see this come to an end...now let's hope we don't release him so we can find him with more kids less than a month after.

I hate the stupid news sites that remove the links after a week.

I'm trying to have a debate about the justice system and knew there were a couple of threads here on CP that might help me along.

Lo and behold, the links are gone.
