Apparently not...

Was kinda cool to see how close kithomer is to romulan space.

Also kind of strange taht the first encounter with the ferengi (IIRC, it was picard captaining his first vessel. He destroyed the ferengi ship, and the father of the ferengi captain that died came back to attempt to **** jean-luc up a few years later. Haha. Stupid ferengi.) took place on the other side of the UFP from actual ferengi space.
Strange.

Man that map brings me back to the days of Trek. DS9 all the way for me here, the only one I bother to get the DVD's (although I might get the Enterprise ones too). I always enjoyed reading the Technical Manuals they published - still am trying to get a DS9 tech manual but they're out of print...

Give me a girl in uniform. Lululemon is one my biggest pet peeves since very few can pull it off.

This is the wierdest thread ever. I never imagined I would be discussing female fashion and Star Trek at the same time on a hockey forum. But it never fails to surprise me to discover just how many people in the world are closet Trekkers and how easily it is to just get into a Trek conversation with the most unexpected people you meet. I walked by a faculty office at the U of C and I heard two professors discussing the various kinds of ships used in the Dominion/Cardassian/Breen/Federation/Klingon battle near the end of DS9.

All right, I'll join the geek out for one minute to mention, the TNG episodes with Q were the best! The one where Picard gets to see his past when he was younger was hilarious, and made a point. (Awwwww)

I always liked those shows that could poke a little bit of fun at themselves without completely becoming a farce (see some of the X-Files episodes, esp the vampire town one, though to be fair, I LOVED the X-Files, till the final crappy 3 seasons of course)

The series finale (back to TNG) could have been a movie I thought, and I was never a huge fan. It was better than some of the Star Trek movies out there, and gave you something to think about.

I can't really comment on the later franchises. Watched a few of the episodes, but couldn't get into them. I have to be of the opinion (and I know I'm not a fan) that they should just leave it alone for a while. I mean there was what, 25 years between the original and TNG? Maybe it needs a break again. And maybe after that break, it will mean more in our society again.

Jaa... Q episodes were definitely some of the best ones. Maybe because I'm such a picard fan, and Q was almost exclusively dealing with picard.

I liked the Q episode with the hot little young Q

I don't know if it needs saving. Paramount might be concerned with thier cash cow. A Star Trek movie has to be a good movie first and a Trek movie second. The best movies stood on thier own and the worst over did the Trek feel and gave the "fans" too much.

Hmm, I'm not sure I agree with that (at least for the TNG movies). The first TNG movie was -OK-, and probably had the most "Trek Feel" of any of the movies.

The 2nd one (which I believe was the Borg one) was probably the best, and yes it could definitely stand on it's own, but still had a Trek feel.

The 3rd and 4th movies were not good. Being a giant ST:TNG fan, I still liked the 3rd one, but they were moving more and more away from the "Trek Feel", trying to add too much forced humour and ridiculousness that didn't happen in the TV show.

The 4th one was pure garbage. They definitely didn't give the fans too much - in fact, they gave the fans nothing. The characters didn't feel like the characters anymore, and it just looked like a bunch of actors in a crappy SciFi movie with bad jokes.

That's been my biggest beef with the Next Gen cast movies. You spent all this time developing characters in the TV series and then you totally write them differently in the movie. Data with emotions, Picard going nuclear on Worf, changing ships.... no continuity with the series....
