Jeez, here's hoping I don't have to deal with Hurricane Danielle (Cat 4) 1500 miles off the big island as of right now. I'm leaving Wednesday, hopefully it fizzels out and doesn't reach the islands at all.

I'm sure it won't be bad. We had to deal with Hurricane/Tropical Storm Alberto in Raleigh, North Carolina the day before Game 5 and it really didn't seem like much more than a typical heavy downpour in Alberta.

I dunno man. It started near the tip of mexico 2 days ago, hasn't slowed down and will be going right in the middle of the ocean. Not on the coast of a huge land mass.

I talked to someone I know on Oahu, told me that these hurricanes happen almost every year and always fizzle and go north because of the water temperatures around Hawaii are warmer. They bring on some nice surf on the north shore aswell, stuff you'd only see during the winter months. Sweet, I don't surf but enjoy checking out the big waves.
The jellyfish are already gone.

One more question, does Westjet have laptop plug ins for the long flights?

Just wondering with Westjet, you get your own tv screen right? Do they have on demand ppv movies in them? What kind of food do they serve on the Vancouver>Honolulu flight?
I know Westjet for the most part is pretty economical so i'd be suprised if they served a meal (I guess that's a good thing)
Just some random questions.
|
I have never flown Westjet to Hawaii, ive never even been there, but I have flown it to Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg. You get your own tv, but the channels are the same as regular cable. They dont serve food on Westjet unless you buy it, or bring your own. As for the laptop plug ins, I couldnt say because I have never brought my laptop with me with Westjet.

For most flights the earliest you can check in (in person) is 3 hrs early and being one of the first to check in would give you a better chance, but who wants to hang out at the airport for that long? Honestly, those ones are pretty much luck of the draw. You can call and have a note added in your file that you would prefer those seats, but there is no guarantee the agent at the airport doing the pre-assignment would notice it.
And Calgary Flames, no plug-ins so make sure you have a full battery.

I didn't see the PPV question answered anywhere.
I haven't flown Calgary to Hawaii, but I've flown Montreal-Calgary several times. Every time I've got my own personal tv (sattelite) with about 20 channels. There are PPV movies playing and they'll start whenever you order them; you just swipe your credit card into the slot built into the tv.

When I flew to Vancouver in November we had a new plane with leather seats and the TVs, but no connection for a laptop.

Gordon, I just checked your link, and according to the pic that shows, up, it looks like you have nothing to worry about.
Here is an article on Hawaii and Hurricanes:
Not too stormy

It's heading there but i'm sure it'll venture northward. It's only Cat 1 now, it was Cat 4 two days ago.
Looking at my sattelite map wallpaper it looks like a big cloud, nothing more.
Weather looks outstanding! I can't fricken wait!

Alright, i'm here and it's spectacular. Great weather. The storm is non existant and is only expected to bring 2-4 inches of rain on Kona, but Oahu should be all good.
I'm actually going to check out the dog's office. haha
Aloha CP!

Meet some hot chicks yet?
When I was there it was during the Hawaii marathon. Most of the entrants were Japanese so instead of hot chicks on the beach it was all Japanese men with tiny speedo's on.

My parents just got back from Hawaii on westjet.. they complained that the seats were too slippery, and the reason westjet has extra leg room is that the seats are smaller than air canada's...
