I used to love Sliders- until they turned it into a war against the Cro-Mags instead of a fun trip to a different parallel world every week.

Greg the Bunny (yes, I have the DVDs)
Firefly (yes, I have the DVDs)

And the one I mourn the most:
WKRP in Cincinatti (not available on DVD, and probably won't ever be )

A number of the other shows already listed were good, and I'd like to have more of them, but some of them were seriously slipping when they were cancelled. Northern Exposure comes to mind. When Joel left it just wasn't the same.

The best show's you cant get on DVD. Supposedly it has to do with music rights is The Wonder Years and WKRP. Loved em both. Just picked up Superfriends, Challenge of the Superfriends and Ghostbusters the cartoon. I want my kids to be able to watch quality cartoons that I enjoyed back inn the day.

Like everyone I loved firefly, AD, Futurama and own them all. A couple obscure shows that I like were Pretender and the Adventures of Brisco County Jr (just came out on DVD yesterday!). If you are a Bruce Campbell fan you would enjoy the AoBCjr.

I think you mean Now and Again. That show was great. I wish they would bring it out on DVD.

Other than that:

Firefly
Angel

Yeah that's the one. I always mix them up. It was right on the bubble at season's ends for being renewed or not. Critics loved it but CBS did a poor job of marketing it. It had a great story arc and really good cast (Dennis Haybert and one of the guys now on WIthout a Trace).

Dead Like me is another show that I really liked that was cancelled unfortunately. I thought it was fairly clever.

Cosby Show, Three's Company, and Fresh Prince in the Sitcom genre.

I will admit, I was a 90210 fan. It was a good series.

Louis and Clark: The adventures of Superman.

Oh man I miss Greg the Bunny. SO clever.

I also wish that Ricky Gervais did more of the Office. 2 1/2 seasons just wasn't enough!

There are a number of shows shelved due to the cost of music licensing. Malcolm in the Middle had it's first season released a while ago now then nada, due to music costs.

I was a big fan of "The Wonder Years" but it doesn't look promising for a release right now. Also, if there is one it will probably have some replacement music in it too.

Re: The Office. I actually thought that Gervais simply quit while he was ahead a la Fawlty Towers. John Cleese only produced 12 episodes of Fawlty but they remain some of the best comedy ever.

I'm actually surprised to say that I quite enjoy the US version of The Office. That usually never happens (see US Coupling or any Fawlty knockoff.) Steve Carell and the rest of the cast do an admirable job with the characters. Of course, I think that the British version is better but, still, this version doesn't stink when compared...and that's a good thing.

Spot on to those who mentioned Third Watch! Great show!

Also mentioned was Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - hilarious show.

I also miss Wonder Years, The Cosby Show and The Chappelle Show.

Other shows have got around this by simply dropping in a new soundtrack instead of the songs that were in there originally. Felicity for one was a show that featured a lot of music from new artists but when it was released on DVD there was a more generic soundtrack in there.

The problem though w/ WKRP and Wonder Years is the music was so central to the shows. Wonder Years you MAY be to get away with but how do you get around it on WKRP. When Dr. Johnny Fever drops the needle on some CCR you can't really substitute in generic soundtrack music.

Which is lame because WKRP was really quite a brilliant show and ahead of its time.
