(looking at the glacier which is a big lump of slush)
Lisa Simpson: What happened to the glacier? It's nearly melted. (gasps) This must be due to global warming!
Park Ranger: Young lady, the federal government's position on global warming is that it does not exist. This glacier's doing just fine.
Lisa: No, it isn't. It's a lump of slush; look at it!
Park Ranger: Heh. I have a little girl just like you at home. (threateningly) And that's where she stays…at home!

I play in a rec league that's run out of the mall near my house ( lame, I know--but it isn't like I have tons of options). The rink is built underneath a vaulted, peaked ceiling made out of--you guessed it--glass.
I don't know who the genius was who decided to build an ice rink in a greenhouse--but that person should be beaten with pillowcases full of soap. "hot hockey" IS better than no hockey, but when you're collapsing from heat exhaustion while standing knee deep in slush, it can be hard to remember that.
Incidentally, 104 here today again. Yuck. I tried going for a run with my dogs at 6:30 yesterday morning and almost hurled from the heat. Today I'm staying in the air conditioning.

Soulchoice, you are a sick individual.
I love having four seasons. Distinct seasons.

Well it wasn't too bad today in Calgary but I work in a kitchen so it was actually much worse for me than some.

Yeah I take my dog for a walk every morning, and when I did it this morning, I felt like I was barely moving but I was just pouring sweat. It was horrible. I am going to have to go out at 4 or 5 in the morning to beat the heat ... I wish I had AC. I have one crappy fan. It does nothing but blow the hot air back at me. I hate the heat. Bring on Fall and winter.

You said it. It's the kind of heat where you're still sweating AFTER you get inside.
In better news, we had a massive thunderstorm this afternoon, which brought the temperature down some. It's still going to be in the high 90s tomorrow, though.
I'm going to Iceland in August. I can't wait!

We just had a thunderstorm here in Ottawa as well. I got caught in it, walking the dog but I wasn't angry about it, it was really nice to cool off. It's not too bad outside now, but my apartment is still sweltering unfortunately... and I get to deal with that cool wet dog smell.

Yup. And I hope you enjoy your 361 days of rain this year.
(...Ah who'm I kidding. Right now I'd settle for a few cool, rainy days.)

Be careful walking or especially jogging with your dogs.
They have fur coats! Make sure you take lots of water and find shade often.
Ohh and the cool wet dog smell. Nothin better. Just wait till it's not there anymore. I get to see my big dog Diz tommorrow!!
He is going into the kiddie wading pool as soon as Mom leaves, haha. Maybe the Elbow after.Nice shady offleash area. Back in the pool. Crack a beer, Stick my feet in the pool, let the dog shake all over you, the best.
I don't survive in heat ,it wears me out. I do like the four seasons. It has snowed lots in Calgary and been very cold for longer periods than lately, but ,you never can tell.
I quit watching the weather although my mom kept telling me to be a weatherman. They are always wrong and they get paid for it.

LOL...ya, I only like two season, Spring and Summer. I am pretty much in the wrong country/city weather wise for my liking. Guess I had enough of the snow and cold winters growing up. As long as they can make ice indoors for me to play hockey in, thats all I need.
Beaches and sand, yes........cold, snow, mountains....no....lol
