After I passed the age of 13, I failed to see why pro wrestling was entertaining anymore or why people pay to watch grown oiled men pretend to act or pretend to fight.
Actually it was more like after the age of 8 when I realized that when the Undertaker said he was going to kill (as in genuinely murder) Hulk Hogan and put him into a coffin - that he didn't actually mean it and and wasn't really going to do it on live TV. At that tender age, I really thought that Hulk was going to die and that's all that made wrestling interesting to me.
If you want to watch fighting and competition or even storylines, why not watch UFC or one of those fighting reality TV shows. Hell, that show that trained Jack Osborne into a boxer in Thailand is better than wrestling.

Yeah that's what I meant.
Bret Hart and the heart foundation was the best time for a Canadian wrestler fan though. My interest at that time was at its peak.

Ultimate Fighting to me is boring..it may not be "pretend" but
it has NONE of the entertainent value and tradition that wrestling has..
I think most people watch wrestling because of the storylines and like someone said earlier..it's a male soap opera..except these athletes have better acting skills..

Cant people watch both? UFC and WWE are two completely different things. It's like comparing Lost to Survivor and saying people shouldnt watch Lost because it's not real like Survivor. UFC is legalized fighting and WWE is a TV show that involves fighting. And despite what some people seem to think there's nothing wrong with adults watching wrestling. It's not geared at kids like it was 15 years ago.

the thing I love most about WWE is the crowd. I haven't really watched in ages now, but I love how the crowd reacts. I'm a huge public speaking fan, and to see guys like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Edge and Christian (when they had the 15 second pose) come out and captivate the audience. The crowd reaction when you'd hear "If ya smelllllla... what the Rock... issss cooking" then the music starts is simply amazing, the energy.
Even though they're "play fighting" or whatever you want to call it, they're some atheletic, and can pull off some pretty impressive things.
It's no different than watching any other TV show, it's a show, it's entertainment. It's not a competitive sport, they don't market it as such. It's no different from me saying "Well they don't actually have sex on Sex and the City!!!"
Take it for what it's worth, and enjoy it however you want to. I've always bought into the philosophy of "whatever floats your boat" - if you like WWE cool, if you don't that's cool too.

Well that would be cool if I wasn't constantly bombarded by Bell's commercials. I've been a small time wrestling fan over the years but if these shows are anything like their commercials, I'll pass. I don't like being assaulted with their garbage. I can't explain why I find them this way because I switch the station.

ironically enough...it was better when it was aimed at kids in the 80's ..we believed in it (most of us anyways)and that made it a better quality product..I mean who would you rather watch perform..John Cena or Macho Man Randy Savage?..if your a true fan..there would be no contest

Ooooooh Yeah! Dig-it!
About 5 or 6 years ago is when I lost my interest in wrestling. I still followed it though due to its addictive nature (I had been watching it for 15 years at that point). There are some stars today that are intriguing but I haven't seen somebody new come along that will have the staying power of guys like Hogan, Savage, Flair, Michaels etc.

Neither Rock or Stone Cold lasted as long as the likes of the guys I mentioned. Stone Cold didtn' have the body to continue and the Rock didn't have the interest to stay a wrestler. Do you see anybody wrestling today that will achieve the status of the guys that either you or I mentioned?
WWE is living off of its past stars. They can get by for a period of time with the likes of Boring Batista and Crappy John Cena, but the interest in these guys fade away and they have to bring back another old time star to get the fans interested again.
As sad is this sounds. They will lose another drawing card when Kane retires within the next year or two.

Exactly. Kane does suck, and he has more staying power than most of the recent superstars. The WWE is screwed, they haven't developed a big time star to carry the company down the road. They better hope HHH doesn't retire for another 20 years and the Taker also keeps going for a longer time than expected.

Very true. I remember as a kid crying when Hulk lost his belt. Now, there's wrestlers I like but I dont get emotionally attached to them like I did when I was a kid. If they win their matches then great but if they lose then oh well.

I peaked back in the Hart Foundation days. There American hatred was awsome,. Since then it's been downhill and I gave up 5 years ago. Re-cycled storylines, and washed up losers still going at it. Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan are you kidding me?

Hulk only comes back every once and a while. He's not a fulltime wrestler anymore.
