The things you described can also be said about our city here, Calgary. Downtown here is the same way as well, dead, lifeless. Edmonton is not as bad as some make it out to be. However as one previous poster says, this is a Flames board, so i guess there will always be some civic pride here for the city of Calgary.

Flying does suck. It just happens to be the fastest way to get places. If you're a 180+ pound man who's over 5'10", you get real tired of coach airplane seats real quick.

Try flying when you're 6'3" and 250lbs. Caught the skyjet from Calgary to Salt Lake, and that was horrible. The guy in front of me would not have been able to recline his seat if he tried. The flight from Salt Lake to Hawaii was better, but I still had less than 1" clearance between my knees and the seat in front of me.

London to Calgary on Air Transat was no fun. Mr. Lowertheseat in front of me didn't help. Flying would probably be fun if it was your first time but I fly so much it's feels more like riding the bus for hours straight.

If you want a fun flight, take a 16 seater to Fort Nelson.

As far as the topic goes, I do find it hilarious that it took 25 tries for Edmonton to find 3 people willing to go there, though the yo-yo promotion was the truely embarrassing one for Edmonton.

That annoys me to no end as well. It just reminds me of those white hicks that are always on Jerry Springer talking in ebonics, and it always sounds so forced.

It also annoys me how they call their team "The Oil". It would be like us calling our team "The Heat", or Panthers fans calling their team "The Cat". It's so corny.

I'm 6'2" 195 and after a 10 hour flight to Japan I can't move my legs. Only thing that makes it tolerable is the seat back tv and games, and all you can drink alcohol.
