My mother-in-law use to be a cook there. She and my wife use their recipe, they make it from scratch, dough and all. Not exactly the same b/c we don't have a pizza oven, but still great.

I got mistaken for Chris Simon when I ate there a few years ago.

I have to disagree-I enjoy eating at Julio's Barrio and I definitely don't meet the criteria you list. Great atmosphere, tasty dishes, pleasant staff.
I do miss Jabulani, which was the South African restaurant on the corner of 17th ave/8th Street SW. I think I read somewhere that business died because of the success of the Red Mile a couple of years ago. I thought they were moving somewhere but the website seems to be dead.

When The Arden first opened I liked it. Greasy spoon type cafe food. Meat Loaf, Burgers and the like. And then they tried to go high end and it seemed to kill it.

I ate Fudruckers when I lived in Florida and it gave me the nastiest food poisoning I have ever had. I never went there again.

Yes, they have it everywhere in Montreal. I think its terrible and overpriced though. Maybe it used to be better back in the day, I'm not sure.

A Bonanza just recently opened in Edmonton. Their buffet is very good, but a bit pricy ($18 I think).
Did the Julio's Burrio open up in Calgary?

I wonder why they all closed down, especially if the franchise still exists. It seemed to have a niche; I loved that burger with the pineapple ring in it.
For a few years, the one in Sunridge wasn't very busy but always had a few tables occupied. The last year around it was always much busier, and seemed to be doing great business.
I miss the Red Devil. The one up at Crowfoot. It was great always a line. The one day my wife and I stopped in at 6:30, expecting a line and we were seated right away. We wondered what was up until were were handed teh 'new' menu. All the stuff we liked was gone. And a year later, so was the Red Devil.

Hardrock Cafe. I think they closed all 3 of them in Alberta (Edmonton, Calgary , Banff).
Planet Hollywood also closed down at West Edmonton Mall about 5 years ago

The guy who had the Hard Rock franchise for western Canada went bankrupt. I seem to recall that it wasn't the Hard Rock's that were loosing money, it was his other businesses that were tanking, and when he couldn't come up with the franchise fee anymore, the franchises were yanked.

Ate in the restaurant part a few times, but their wings in the lounge were the best. They also had the free nachos with all the fixins.
I loved Mother's pizza as well. The one in Country Hills is pretty darn close to the original (at least it was a year ago)
I use to really like Earls before they changed their menu. Loved their appetizers
Is Temple pizza still around??
