Wow... I really have to think about getting a 360 just for this game... thats crazy!

I just hope the gameplay doesn't suck like last year. You can have the best graphics in the world, but if the gameplay is cheeze ridden, it sucks no matter what.

I saw some really cool **** regarding the new 360 game engine when I saw it in action. I can't say what until July 13th though.

I won an 360 in the Pepsi contest and in the end, I had to sell it to pay some bills. But if I was to buy it, it would be for NHL 2K7. A much better hockey series, too bad they don't make it for PC

I've been a 2k fan up till this year, I didn't like 2k6 for the original XBox but picked it up for 360 and really enjoy it. But take my word for it, 2k is up for a hefty challenge in the realism department.

Plus the game in Europe sells like crazy for PC and according to one of the producers is the main reason why PC NHL 07 will be current gen.

People still need to understand, that EA wants to sell as many copies of their game as they can. Why isolate their PC market to those with only super machines?? Plus I think they want to wait until Vista is released.

Next Generation of gaming are consoles... this is an absolute fact. Developers more and more are developing with that in mind. Trust me, i'd love a PC version of Next gen NHL 07 because it's easier to manage rosters and add ons. But in the grand scheme of things Next gen consoles are the way to go. I just got a 360 and LOVE it on my HDTV. I also just spent $400 on a video card.

Not only is it more economical to buy a console $499 for 360 vs $400 for JUST a video card but it's also a hell of alot more convenient for GENERAL CONSUMERS.
yes but you forget the most important fact of PC gaming, and that is scaleability. a game like Oblivion, with argueably the best graphics of any game to date, can be run on something as old as a Radeon 9700 when the graphics are turned down far enough with few issues. and seeing as how EA has had scalable graphics for every other NHL PC release, it would seem very stupid to release the weaker version for PC when users with older systems should simply be able to turn down the eye candy options to make the game playable

in fact i don't even think i can even buy that. i can't remember any game that was released to PC and consoles at the same time where the PC version had weaker graphics

That may happen in the next release but they've worked 2 years on NHL 07 next gen. It'd be stupid to rush a port when they could use the resources to make the actual Next Gen game as good as they can by fall.

As long as the PC version isnt a watered down version of the 360 version with a bunch of gameplay features missing I'm ok with it not having next gen graphics. As much as graphics make a game look realistic in the end its gameplay that's most important.

I think Jordan hit on most of the benefits of the console vs PC. Personally, I'm a PC gamer, but I think the toughest thing about programming for the PC would bee all teh different configurations available. ATI vs nVidia; different chipsets/mobos/processors/number of cores/video resolutions/mice - it must be a nightmare. I know the O/S is supposed to handle most of these, but even supposing Windows is perfect (and everyone uses the same OS (including service packs, patches, drivers)), you still need to consider how many buttons the mouse has, how much memory is available, and so on. All things that are relatively static in a console. Even if there are a few hardware changes, the number of hardware combinations to program for are much smaller than a PC.

I'll always be a PC gamer and support those titles, but I can concede that it is easier to build and tweak a game for a console.

The PC version is a port of the current gen NHL 07. Comparable to NHL 06 in terms of presentation, ect.

The 360 version is a title all to it's own, the engine is built from the ground up and is a 100% brand new game, there's nothing recycled about it.

Really we have 3 different hockey games coming out this fall.

NHL 07 Current Gen
NHL 07 360
NHL 2k7

Damn that looks great, especially the Duck player screenshot.

I'll be buying a 360 for the sole purpose of playing NHL07, I won't even own another game.

But how different will the 360 version be as far as features? Are they completely neglecting the current gen game and putting all the good features that people want in the 360 version?

I've already accepted that the graphics will be better for atleast a year but I'll be really ****ed if a bunch of features that could have been added to the current gen game as well are only in the 360 version.

The Current Gen is being developed in Montreal, Next gen is in Vancouver. 2 seperate development teams.

If anything the current gen will have more features as NHL 07 Next gen is pretty much a brand new game. That's not saying there won't be depth to it, but it's just a totally different game.

Anyone else find it curious that EA is bypassing the PS3 for NHL 07 this year? Did they not get the development packs in time? If so how many other games are going to have release dates pushed back?

Not to mention it looks like a much talked about game Assassins Creed originally touted as a PS3 exclusive will most likely not be.

Looks like there's a few new screens on ign.com for the 360 version. Nice to see they finally gave Hasek his real mask but too bad it took EA so long to do it since he probably has no more than a couple years left before he finally calls it quits for good. It's an ugly mask but it always felt like you were playing against Osgood when playing Detroit.

IGN has done a preview for NHL 07:
http://sports.ign.com/articles/717/717218p1.html

Sounds amazing. Glad to hear that it appears as if they removed the magnetic ability the puck/players all had before.

And it's differences like these, that in the end, make all the difference in the world.
