On the news this morning they interviewed people whop said the storm "just hit out of nowhere."

Now in the SE we didn't get it as bad, and I watched it roll in for over an hour. Enough time that I moved in stuff I didn't want to get wet, then made dinner, then when I was almost done eating it hit us.

Was it that sudden in the NW? Or did they just find a few idiots to make a neat story?

wow thanks for the warning, it's 23C out plus humidity, sun's shining, not a cloud in the sky... without this warning I would have thought that everything was going to be hunky dory. Now to prepare myself and wait for the bad weather to his North Eastern Nova Scotia

*waits*

I had night class at SAIT. Just before 6, on my way in, I though there were some ominous clouds to the north and west. I didn't notice anything during class, but when I walked out at 9, it was weird because the pavement was partially dry, but there were still piles of slush around, and the soccer field had a pond in one end. And in the box of my truck there was still some slush. Since I was told the storm had ended over an hour before (and I didn't hear any of it in a room full of computers), it must have been nasty.

It looks like Medicine Hat is getting something pretty serious right now. Much more severe then what we saw last night. If anyone lives there, let us know how it goes.

Same here, I heard some thunder around 3:30 or so. No rain or nothing.

I was golfing at Heatherglen last night when the hail came down....it was WICKED. Nothing like wandering around with a bunch of lightning rods on your back in the middle of a thunderstorm.

soooo sick of this. I haven't been on the bike in almost 3 weeks.

Depends on how you look at it I guess. You could see it off in the distance, but when it got over top it wasn't like you had a light mist or a little rain coming to prepare you, it just hit like an all-out torrential downpour. If you weren't paying attention, you may not have seen it coming.

I drove home down the Old Banff Coach Road out onto the number one and when I got in a position where I was facing north, you couldn't see the houses on the horizon, which usually are clear as day. It looked nasty.

Severe thunderstorm watch currently in effect and looking at The Weather Network, once again we see them calling for thunder showers tomorrow afternoon and evening. This pattern of sunny days and stormy nights, is it common in Calgary?

It was when I was growing up here. It changed for a few years but seems to be coming back with a vengence this year.

Tell me when it gets there so that I've got a few minutes to grab my plants off the terrace. I've been lulled into a false sense of security with day after day after day of 30 degree weather.

I would welcome a rainstorm... It's 35 degrees here and it's only noon in June.
